Olympic Swimming

Post by Killerbunny » Mon Jul 19, 2021 6:48 am

So when the swimming comes up at the Olympics please give a cheer to BAILEY ANDISON an awesome SMiths Falls athlete who began her swimming career with Perth STingrays - the Club we swim with. Look out for her in the 200M Individual Medley (hurts just to think about swimming that)!

my dad was competitive swimming from his teens right up to the date he was diagnosed with cancer (76 years old)! they started comparing his times to the age group 10 years younger than his because he was beating his age group by literally a minute or so. Then most of his competitors retired, and he was all alone in his age group! LOL he still swims off and on...he swam with the same group as alex baumann (if any of you are old enough to remember him) many years ago. i used to believe he could breath underwater when i was a young kid LOL. i still suspect he can.....

A new doctor who was a competitive swimmer (competed in the Olympics) started working at the hospital my mother worked at. Everyone was bugging my grandfather (naps in the ocean, half fish half man ) and the new doctor to race. So all the staff and locals gathered to watch them race one day. There was an island about 1 mile away. You can barely see it from the shore. Well about half an hour later my grandfather returned alone. They took a boat to the island and the doctor was passed out exhausted on the shore. When they brought him back my grandfather said, "You have to swim with the current not against it".
