@WLLady
Still not good. Maybe a wee bit better
I have a new pic
I’ll try to get another picture tomorrow after I soak him
The scab all around the edges is gone but it almost looked like his butthole doesn’t close????

Re: Rooster with Vent Gleet????
is he eating well? is he getting a lot of grass? it could also be bacterial or a mix of bacterial and yeast.....it's looking better on the scabbiness though! it's still angry and inflamed into the skin around the vent, so my bet is there's also something bacterial going on. Do you have any oxytetracycline? or another antibiotic that you could put him on along with keeping it as clean as you can?
i don't see any mite/lice evidence, so that's good. if his behaviour is normal and it's a problem with blockage its possible that he has GI tumours or something occluding inside-which would produce a ton of mucus coupled with the food would look that colour.....and if there's swelling in the tissues around the vent it may not be able to close because the sphincter muscles are inflamed.
is there any weird smell to him?
You could always take a swab of that and send it to the vet or guelph....

Re: Rooster with Vent Gleet????
I only have tetracycline Not sure what difference that is from oxy
I also have amprol?
He was on 5 days of tetra already
Will either one of those help??
I had him in chick starter for a while. Now giving corn and layer pellets
That’s for you help!
Also still giving preparation H once a day and once a day soak in epsom salt water

Forgot to mention. He has been getting a variety
Some dandelion leaves. Chick starter then corn then layer pellets
He has a good appetite and acting normal rooster self. Does the rooster dance beside hens. They squat for him but he doesn’t t to breed them
I let him in with supervision as I don’t want hens picking his butt!

it looks like it has a lot of mucus in it. i wonder if he has some GI issues further up-tumors or something. if hes generally happy then i wouldnt worry too much. you can try a run if tetracycline and see if it helps but at this point uou have pretty much ruled out anything treatable like bacteria or yeast or whatever
