Yes very jealous of the garlic @Killerbunny , mine are about 1/2 the size, I really need more of compost and grow less larger garlic, it would be way less work ;)

the tomatoes had their 2nd "haircut" and they are on way to escape again, I wish they would put more energy in to ripening and less in to foliage and more green tomatoes.

Ontario Chick, are you fertilizing them a lot? They should be ripening now. Perhaps you could remove some of the excess foliage, starting with the leaves at the bottom - if you can get in there. I discovered that removing bottom leaves (to about 12" up from the ground) early, I could then SEE the low-hanging fruit :).

If you need recommendations on some low-growing varieties for next year, just let me know ;).

That bed did get a small load of my excelled Digester compost, I go in on regular bases and take of bottom leaves and many offshoots, but now that puppy is helping me, I might just let it go to tomato jungle :)

I'm fighting with the chipmunks, as soon as one the tomatoes starts to rippen, they take a bite. One bite, that's it. So, now as soon as we see them turning colour, they are off the vine and in the house. We might get a few.

Funny, yesterday I saw a red squirrel carrying a cherry tomato, wasn't ours, we don't have any ripe ones, but somebody has

Most exciting thing that has happened in my 50 years of gardening, it looks like I have 6 heads of red cabbage.
There is a history to my red cabbage quest, purely accidentally about 3 years ago I bought a head of organic locally grown red cabbage in Perth.
Found a salad recipe using red cabbage and carrots and I was smitten.
It lasted pretty much the whole winter (OK not THAT smitten)
Next year I purchased seedlings in the COOP , bolted immediately and never even pretended they could grow to become cabbages.
Next year I bought a head of red cabbage in the store and it was awful so gave it to the chickens. They weren't impressed either.
This year planted seeds and didn't really think much was going to develop and eureka we will be eating red cabbage for next 6 years ;)

Awesome! I have a great red cabbage and prune (or what ever is your preferred dried fruit) salad, if you're interested. I have never been able to successfully grow cabbage, so have always had to buy a head. Kudos to you for perservering!
