Re: Good Morning!
Morning all!
Rainy windy and yucky out. And even free ranging the one pearl grey guinea is chasing the chickens. I fear there may be a crock pot in his future. sigh. Tick season in spades. OMG this year they're BAD. i must have walked through a bunch while out hunting because i picked 3 off me IN the bush, then hubby found another in my hair, and that was AFTER the shower. Then a day later after the shower i went to clean the tub and there's another 5 sitting IN the tub having crawled back up the drain. So that's what.....9? in ONE hunting trip. geez. we've been really good the last couple of years, but this year we didn't have a winter really to speak of. i can't wait to see the mosquitos! HAHA (dripping sarcasm there). I've seen 3 turkey hens, a jake and another hen....nice to see but they're being elusive as all get out. girls aren't sitting yet. anyways, i have ducks locked down right now-due friday i think...or something like that. they never seem to be "on time" they're early or late. always. have a brooder full in the basement with 5 turkey poults and a mess of chicks. i think i can tell boys from girls already! been pouring rain this morning, will have to get into the greenhouse at some point today. I think there's still a few things i need to plant, and some things need potting on. I really do need to get some more really good sturdy planting trays....my old trays are breaking and so flimsy. sigh. also need to run the hose and find a gentle water wand...because it's 4 trips with the watering can right now! tulips are just starting to bloom. daffodils are just finished. have some bluebirds around this year! they keep cleaning me out of mealworms in the feeder. and thankfully they seem to not mind frozen mealworms either!
had puppy in to the vet for xrays. turns out she likely greenstick fractured her hind left tibia and it's healing super well. we've had her braced for 3 weeks as of today thankfully and been keeping her quiet so it's healing well. she's also reactive to meloxicam, so got her on a different antiinflammatory. helping well now. she also stretched her medial collateral ligament, and a partial tear in the medial meniscus in her knee. between me and the vet talking we also figured out that the PTSD is because her knee makes a snapping sound, and that's our go to for bad dog...snap the fingers once. argh! so she hears the snap (no pain with it) and sinks to the ground to submit because in her mind she has done something wrong because she hears the snap. a simple case of being too smart for her own good! ha ha. so now we are not using the finger snap any more, and replacing that with no, or stop.....haha. i'm a slow learner. She still is scared to walk through places where she's been scared by hurting-she slid in the hallway, and now is afraid to walk through the hallway. but she's getting better, she actually took ME out the front door yesterday, first time we haven't had to help/carry/lift/support/cajole/force/aid/push etc etc. so she is on the mend. another 4-8 weeks....at least it's getting there now. phew......

Re: Good Morning!
Good Wed morning. Rainy day, no gardening. Had Cinco on the milk stand this morning, she is due in about ten days. Felt a baby kick back at me.
Ranger caught a bunny this morning, he is thrilled. The garden has chain link due to goats and dogs and the boys were making a huge fuss and I saw the bunny in there. So I opened the gate and they ran it to ground. He has no killer instinct tho, and he brought it to me and I had to wack it with a stick, but he is very proud. Hope the other bunnies take notice, that thats not a good place to go.
Got all the trees in the orchard wrapped with chain link yesterday, so now the goats and horse can pasture there at least until maybe we get some fruit.

Re: Good Morning!
A good laugh this evening. My 7 year old girl chirred at Frank and when he took notice she crouched. He rushed over and hopped on. Unfortunateely they were on a slope and in their enthusiasm became unbalanced. I shouldn't have laughed but the sight of these 2 rolling down the slope was hilarious if undignified!

Re: Good Morning!
I prefer to think that I may spend waaaayyy too much time watching chickens and turkeys.
On another note there has been a suggestion that "family bubbles" could be allowed. This means that you pick another family to visit with and the 2 families can only visit with each other ATM. Well we thought about that and pretty much came up empty LOL!
