Good Morning!

Post by Flat Rock Farm » Sun Feb 07, 2016 6:17 pm

Well it's been a heck of a week, what with moving my son on Monday and starting back to work. First week back to work and I have a hell of a cold, not sure who to thank for this doozy!! So just trying to get caught up on the forum and see how everyone is doing

Enjoy the next couple days folks, going to turn cold by Wed.

Have a good week!!

Good morning everyone! FRF hows the knee coming along? that's a busy week, and what a downer to be sick. feel better soon.

so mad....was crossing the road, and some idiot decided not to stop for me in the crosswalk while everyone else was, went through a puddle and soaked me. OMG have to admit, unladylike language this morning. SOME PEOPLE. okay, so it's dark, it's raining, but STILL! and if i wasn't so bloody sore and decrepit these days i would have chased him down and had a pedestrian rage on him....grrrrrr. (not really road rage if i'm walking is it?)

well, i put a couple of new boys in with a few girls yesterday, new black tailed buff marans breeders. not so sure that the 1 boy will stay in there, i'm a little unhappy with a couple of black feathers coming in on his shoulders. hm.....otherwise his form and the rest of his colours/patterns/leg feathering is pretty much as close to perfect as i'm going to get. darned black feathers....grrrr. shouldn't have black shoulder feathers at all. my other boy is beautiful, no black where he shouldn't be, nice buff/reddish leg feathers all the way down but not between his toes. very happy with him. i only have 5 others that i can switch out the shoulder boy with...but they all have more major faults, like black leg feathering, or black in the hackles....one i swear can't figure out if he's wheaten or black tailed buff. he changes with every moult! LOL.

looks like winter will arrive in a couple of days! i see -15 as the HIGH on saturday next week? guess i'll get out the bigger brooder with the heat lamp and brooder plate, brooder plate on one side, heat lamp on the other tonight, and set it up. i noticed a pip on one cornish egg this morning. it was cheeping yesterday, and another was tapping. with my luck i'll end up with 1 chick again LOL. at least there are 3 already out in the one brooder-3 weeks old and 6 weeks old. eating me out of house and home apparently LOL.

hope everyone has a great day!

Hello Monday...I hate you already! Had to dispatch with one of my grey Marans this morning, she had a deep wound on her from rats (pretty sure) she was ok for the first couple of days and then I think she ended up with some nerve damage anyway she is much better off now and well she is contributing to the heat in the house.
Hopefully the rest of the day is uneventful.

Good Morning,
Bright and sunny here, brisk wind keeps closing the tops of dutch doors on the barn, will have to prop them open, almost never happens, the wind must be coming from an unusual direction.
Had to take Bluie JR out of the Ameraucana pen, 1 hen with nickel size bare spot on back and couple borderline, so Blue Coted and while I was at it, couple of the older girls needed manicure, so that is done too.
So while I have people anxiously waiting for hatching eggs, I seem to be going one step forward and 2 steps back.
Looks like Bluie Jr is going to be allowed for weekend conjugal visits only. ;)
Have a safe one!
