Not sure on the breed

Post by FarmerJones » Sun Mar 01, 2020 5:48 pm

I traded and bought various hatching eggs from a few places last year and thought they were a Belgium bantam variety but now I’m unsure. Does anyone know what breed these guys are?

I’m going out to check but I’m pretty sure 4 toes fully feathered legs. They were the only two hatched from DC heritage poultry from a surprise dozen and were supposed to be Belgium d’Uccle but don’t have the same combs

DC Heritage poultry?! Could be anything then. But not Belgian d'Uccles. No way.

Honestly, they look like a Cochin silkie cross. Which is why i asked about the number of toes. If only 4 toes, I'd guess Cochins.

Pink skin 4 toes. I thought Cochin but they have the wrong combs. Wrong feathers and skin got silkies. Wrong comb for d’Uccle.

I'm thinking a mix of Cochin and who knows what else.

The feathering look like Cochin for sure but the comb baffles me. Out of a dozen hatching eggs I got these two guys. They said they were from porcelain Belgium d’Uccle. The combs don’t match tho.

Now way there is Belgian d'Uccles in their lineage. They bear absolutely no resemblance to the d'Uccles I have. When I look at the combs and face, they sort of remind me of Brahmas.

cochin x Brahma bantam ???
My mystery men! Now have to decide which hens to put in with them since they have been by themselves since birth. I have Brahma bantams and OEGB. My seremas are too small.
