This year for myself was heavy on pullets with 39 on the ground and 25 cockerels in my standard bred RIR and today the sorting continues for keepers for next years breeders. I know the quality of the pullets is not as good as the previous year ,but in saying that ckls have improved greatly.

However, I have hatched way more boys this year than girls. My guess is 3:1 boys to girls......lol
Very nice, what colour do you call the pale yellow ones?

I would call them Buff. My standard buffs look like red Pyle to me. They have lots of white with a top cover of Red. These pullets have light yellow with an under coat of white. Either way, very unique.

Buff with white under coat.

Red Pyle with lots of white. I've been called out on calling her Red Pyle , some think she's Buff. Again either way, she's lovely.

She is pretty sometimes hard to know what colour to call some of them, but it is fun to see the different colours.

So far this year, males are in the lead here but not by so much that I'd call it a cockerel year. By the way, if you're ever watching the littles and find yourself saying "oh how pretty" or "that one is cute" or "what a friendly/sweet/cuddly/quirky bird", chances are good those are boys. Unless you really need a replacement boy, in which case every single one will be girls roflmbo

This year of not breeding, brought accidental 3 pullets & one cockerel, and he was pre-sold before he made it out of the egg ;)

Well 3 boys found new homes today. I hated to see them go, all silkies and with the silkies they are all so fluffy and cute and because I handle them a couple times every day, all are really friendly. Hard to pick as well which ones to let go first. I will keep the rest for now but will keep evalulating the rest to decide who goes next.
