I have 3 broodies taking care of 5 chicks. My Satin, Princess, is taking care the of the fixed slay leg. My Showgirl, Cher, is taking care of 2 that needed help.

Dixie, not pictures here, is taking are of the first hatched and a little screamer.

Wholly snap! My hatch has been a nightmare!
6 eggs. Hatch day Saturday
1 chick hatched fine.
1 pipped at the wrong end and hatches with a little help splay legs cause she is a little piggy.
1 got stuck in the membrane and needed a little help.
1 hatches in the incubator cause it got kicked out of the nest. With lots of blood.
1 didn't pip so I pipped for it finished hatching yesterday.
1 died day 17/18
Phew!
Thats strange you had such a hatch weren't they under a broodie?

Under 3 broodies.....sometimes things don't workout under broodies...I still watch them under the broody girls. I moved them into the house. I learned my lesson letting them hatch in the hen house.

Dixie and her second set of chicks for his year.

Princess and Cher each with one chick.

There is another little black one that won't eat or drink..sigh! So I have it under a broody and am trying to get it to eat and drink.

This afternoon was a great one at the track for us, with our 2 homebreds finishing 1st and a very close 2nd in the Ontario Sires Stakes Derby for 3 yr olds at Ajax Downs!
