My 4 month old birds were split half and half. Some would roost and some would pile in a nesting box (the hens and the runt cockerel). If you’ve checked everything above then maybe they just aren’t into it yet. Make sure something isn’t scaring them at night. Any time there are fireworks or signs of a raccoon, all of mine are in the nesting box. Also, my old hen slept in the nesting box last winter. I think she was warmer. 🤷🏻‍♀️. As long as they are fine, I wouldn’t stress :)

I have come to same conclusion that they will do what they will do. I just thought they were supposed to roost. Tonight when I went out 2 of them were on the 6foot panel that separates the runs ... It's all open but I have option to close them into a smaller run. They have multiple roosts at multiple heights so ...

My chickens did that. Turns out they where scared of the dark, silly chickens. Put a light on a timer, till past their bedtime for a while, worked like a charm.
