My chickens won't eat fresh pot marigolds. Should I assume that the dried flowers would be more palatable? They used to love kale, but aren't so keen at the moment. At least they love their dandelion leaves :).

Farrier1987, I think you would find Alfalfa in dried form as wabbit food at the pet store. I've recently read that Alfalfa is very helpful for arthritis, and comes in tablet form (which we can use for dogs and humans).

You could also buy one of those 50 lb bags of alfalfa hay cubes that they sell for horses (TSC carries it), throw some in the blender and mix it in with your feed.

I had my eye exam too and the chap said "whatever you're doing, keep doing it!" No issues and no glasses needed at 65, DH the same.
I'm about the same. I need reading glasses sort of, more and more too. But a bird ina tree or a deron the edge of the field, no problem.

I bought a bag of the alfalfa hay cubes last year. I soaked them in water based on some research I did, my chickens did not touch the feed. Maybe my birds were just picky.

Jim same here. I even added it to their mush that they eat with gusto every evening. They turned their beaks up.

Don't chickens eat any plant that you want to keep? :) Farrier I have bought straight alfalfa pellets for my chickens. They won't eat them as they are, and they won't eat them soaked in water, but they will eat them if they sit in some yogurt until they soften. I bought them alfalfa cubes and they won't even pick them. During the summer I give them fresh alfalfa and they really like it.

Ha! Ha! Isn't that the truth. I cordoned off the tomatoe plants and everytime I turn around thats where they are, in with the tomatoes. Its like they are saying isn't this nice shes fenced this off just for us, so relaxing.
