Bert Sr. is out and about but walking like "an old man", stooped over.
DH said that even when he stands stooped over, it is the same posture that he has seen Bert Sr. in before he has it out with Jr.
Needless to say, it doesn't look like any of the hens and Jr. are bothering him, after he and Jr. had it out the day before yesterday.
Plus, I'm thinking he still must be sore from the attack.
Hope he is feeling better today!

Bert Sr. is still with us! He's keeping watch and Bert Jr. respects his seniority.
But, since hearing about a family of foxes not far from us, we will still have to be on guard when we let the chickens out to roam.
So, between the 2 roosters, on different sections of the property, each with small groups of hens, hopefully all will prevail.

Would I be able to post a photo of the dead, mangy, scrawny fox that was put out of its misery?

It wouldn't be the first one! A good thing you killed it.

Most fox & coyotes are very mangy now . To many living in to close a quarters & to many being born & not enough culling being done . S.S.S. Luck

Yes, Ross, I understand that too many of one species in close proximity does invite disease.
Here is the fox that killed our hen and maimed our rooster. There is hardly any fur on its tail; on the lower neck by the "shoulder" is a black spot; that spot is a tick. This fox had a few ticks on it.
