@Bayvistafarm what beautiful pictures, after all your coon troubles seems like a just reward .
You are a busy man @JimW if I had a cross country trip coming up and chicks hatching at the same time I would be ready to be certified I think.
And Kathy, wow, the troubles you are put thru, takes a strong person to cope and carry on, my hat is off to you. :wine:

Last eve, went to the chicken auction in Harrow. Its the last Tuesday every month. Took a couple trio's of easter eggers and 6 half grown unsexed chicks. Ended up with just over a hundred for them. I was very pleased. Help me buy feed for a month or two. Got 45$ ea for the trios and 7 ea for the half grown.

Rest of the sale, they had pigeons, quail, rabbits and then the chickens. There was a guy paying $5 for pretty much any rooster, so if you wanted a roo, it was over 5. that is unusual there.

Anyway, that is the Harrow Market Report for this month.

Good morning, though I have not gone to bed yet, so I guess it is still night. Only 3 more days of work left and about 2.5 weeks until our 3 week family trip driving out West all the way to Vancouver Island. Lots of work to do before we leave.

Eggs in the incubator are hatching as I type... just a small batch of about 3 dozen eggs.... Ayam cemani, BC marans, Crele Legbar and Opal Legbars.

I will update after hatch is over.

Good night.

I am envious, Jim! We were supposed to take a trip out West in the summer of 2015, when I retired. Instead, we had to plan for our daughter's Fall wedding, and put our house up for sale because we bought a farm. Have a safe and wonderful trip!

Good afternoon,

Anxious to get home from work to see what hatched!!

A big thanks to Farrier1987 who sent me a message with a bunch of suggestions on off the beat path places to check out as we travel West.

My exams are all over now just exam marking and report card writing, not a very good present on my Birthday.

Tomorrow morning I have a doctors appointment to discuss the results of my recent ECG test, which had a few "abnormalities". :(

I was debating whether to replace my three beloved runner ducks after they were murdered, but have been spared my indecision by a friend who decided to give me three Khaki Campbell ducklings for my birthday. They are very sweet. I am making then a separate pen today, since Lois at the farm store says they can go right outside, but need to stay separated from the vicious chickens until they have feathered out. What do you think? How long would you keep them separated? I have two gentle Wyandottes and a Polish.
For now the ducklings are named Nabisco, Nanette and Nina, reflecting my wishful thinking that no more than one is a drake. I have them in my brooder box for now but can’t wait to put them outside. What a soppy mess they make! I love to watch them poop, though, the way they shake their butts and then squat to squirt. I don’t remember the runners doing that.

My classes' exams are marked, report cards are done, after tomorrow morning's grade 12 graduation ceremony.... I am officially on SUMMER HOLIDAYS!!! Yippee!!!

When to the doctor today... not much info, my ECG showed a few oddities, but they don't know if they are new since I have never had an ecg to compare it to. So I have been referred to the Ottawa Cardiovascular Centre for more tests, no idea how long that will take. In the meantime no strenuous activity and take an Asprin 81 every day was all the info I got. I am hoping I get into see the cardiologist before out trip out West, but I doubt it. :(

My hatch is over 26 new chicks!!!! One more hatch due this Sunday, than that is it for hatching, unless I do some more hatching this fall.

I hope everyone is having a good day.

@JimW Just from my experience with cardiologists, unless you actually drop in front of one, don't expect much.
