Good Morning!

To add a "like" you just click on the heart farrier1987 :-) it will go from red to white to show that you clicked it.

Must admit, i appreciate the "not beating around the bush" thing too...LOL. and i always figured it's past experiences that make us who we are, and if were hadn't had them we wouldn't be who we are, and could be someone completely different, and well, i LIKE who i am now, no clue how i "could" have ended up LOL

that's a great analogy Farrier. stalls can get pretty nasty.....LOL. had a couple of experiences in my past like that-funny how if you don't let them rot and go out, how they fester and come back to haunt you at the weirdest times. Chicken therapy (and horse therapy) for me (and sometimes cats, if they are behaving) definitely is a bonus and a GOOD THING. ;-P

Well, good morning everyone! no t-storms (somehow) in my area, but WOW, did we ever get rain! farm sitting, and we got there before the rain, and then well, got soaked. LOL. got take out pizza from our favorite restaurant in glencoe on the way home and had to dry off the pizza box or it would have dripped on the table. but only 10mm apparently at home last night, they forecast 20....we could hear it pounding away on the steel roof last night, LOVE that sound! Collected the sap last night, about 8 liters, but not really sweet yet, nothing will have run last night or this morning, too warm. looks like a grey day today, windy too. sure feels like spring though! heard cardinals singing this morning! and i swear i heard a turkey gobble from the woods. um.....hm. turkey breeding season may be over before the hunting season even begins this year!
hope everyone has a great day!

Good Morning!

Good Morning everybody! had my cousin Bruce over yesterday, we shot half a box of skeet and both of us were BANG on! it felt great to nail the first clay in the air! then we went for a thorough walk through the bush... the flock of turkeys are in fact living in my bush. turkey tracks and crap everywhere. they sure love all the acorns and nuts all over. theres lots of game trails and life back there but no signs of deer. that was the first time I walked the entire bush and man it might be small but its AWESOME! April 27 turkey season opens and I can't wait!

glad the rain held off so we could get out n play. but when the rain came it poured like crazy! like a wall of water! puddles n lakes everywhere n a high of ten degrees today... it dosent look like ill be getting anymore wood out of the bush anytime soon.

last year I couldnt get to the bush due to the snow... this year its due to the mud! one extreme to the other... oh well ill take mud over the last couple years of crazy winter.

have a great day all!

:-) some of us are "nuts" about chickens and some "nuts" about other things. I think "homesteading" is a great catchall.

On divorce and other things: I quote Billy Conolly, Scottish comic (who was abused as a child). Being a victim is like carrying around a sack of rocks, it weighs you down. At some point you must drop it and leave it there and walk away. You have to choose to drop it. (Easier said than done I'm sure)

Well Bobbi, there's also a civility here, as well as a camaraderie. There's a simple question I like to ask folks. Have you ever killed an animal and eaten it? It's a q that brings horror to many, as they pay someone else to do the killing. Be it a fish, turkey, chicken or rabbit they've never looked in the eye of an animal and thought "you must die that my children may eat." When you get that close, you develop respect, and thank the animal (or say a prayer to God or mother nature or any great spirit (all are the same if you ask me))
They don't get that the cycle of life and death is normal and we country folk accept it. We may not like doing it, but we do it. All we can do is see that animal lived a life as it should; and not in a tiny cage or pen so small that it can't turn around. I think that creates an authenticity that we can share freely here. And we don't even try to explain it too a lot of folks because we know they won't get it.

We know what bull paddies is, so we don't give it or take it.

I don't like killing stuff... unless it severely deserves it....be it deathly sick and beyond hope... or something that has attacked me or will be a danger to someone/something... and will go on doing so unless I stop it.

I have NO problem killing bugs of any kind, that are destructive and in my way, lol.

When it comes to killing for food... I just can't. I let my husband kill them, and then I can get my hands dirty. We stopped raising and eating rabbits... because for him... well, HE just couldn't whack them anymore. It bothered him. Too cute I guess.
