Red Hatching
Re: Red Hatching
@Jaye Thanks for your suggestion, the little one didn't make it. Sometimes, you have no idea what's wrong so you don't know how to treat them. I used a dropper to get the vitamins into the little thing. She just would eat or drink on her own. Hard to treat that. On the brighter side, there are 3 happy healthy little ones!

Re: Red Hatching
That's very sad. :-( I'm sure there was really nothing you could have done to have made the outcome different. I suspect that something went wrong internally at some point in her development. I had the same thing happen with a chick I hatched out a couple of years ago - just didn't/wouldn't/couldn't eat, and nothing I did helped.
I'm happy to hear that your other three are happy and healthy.

Yeah If her/his mom couldn't get it to eat must have been something you wouldn't be able to treat, hard to lose a baby though.

Re: Red Hatching
Aww, hello, Red! Thank you Farrier for letting me get to see a bird you hatched from my eggs, and "her" babies! I'm so pleased she's raising babies for you! I should tell you that you are the proud owner of the ONLY red hen from my eggs. Nobody ends up all red like that, so you have one of a kind! :D
