Red Hatching
So my girl Red, hatched from the mailed eggs from WWW last spring. Set her three weeks ago. She was hatching yesterday. Moved her to the stall this morning. Had set her on ten eggs, hatched 7, the other three exploded when I pitched them.
So seven peepers, got my best chick starter, fried egg and a place with dirt and grit assorted sizes available, and mom to teach them stuff and keep them warm. Three chipmunks, four blue-black.
Brings my total to 5 hens set and hatched. Sold one with 9 chicks. This seven makes 23 at various stages of development left around here. I do like my broodies and babies.

Re: Red Hatching
My red silkie just hatched out 4 peepers on Tuesday. One isn't doing well...So I'm giving her vitamins, fingers crossed. What amazed me was they all hatched on Tuesday into Wednesday morning. No, late or early hatchers, just all on day 21. She's a great Mom. She's from Performance Poultry. I've had her for a couple or 3 years and it's her first time broody.

Pics are coming soon, right? You know the rule: Pictures, or it didn't happen.
Congrats, @Kbr42 ! fingers crossed for the one that's doing poorly. It's great to have a good chicken mum, isn't it?

Awww, such a sweet little family ... it looks like there's still four chicks (one under mum?), so that's a hopeful sign.

There are 4, the one under Mom is still not doing well. I'm giving her water and vitamins a few times a day. She only wants to be under Mom. She doesn't have splay legs but she doesn't want to walk a lot. I'm not sure she's eating even though I put her in the food. She just tries to get back under Mom. I have no clue what's up with her. The others are doing well. Looks like I have my first blue, along with a partridge and paint. The one ghat9not doing well is also a little paint. I'll keep you posted.

Ahhh gotta love a mom with her babies!
Looks like a dark blue too, I always love to see what colour/shade they turn out.

Re: Red Hatching
Oh no, that's too bad.
Have you tried mixing a little feed with enough water (or vit/mineral/electrolyte solution) to turn the crumble into a mash for it? Some chicks will take to that mor readily than dry crumble. I hope things go better for it ...It's so difficult when you just don't know what's going on with it. I don't have enough experience with chicks that are failing to thrive to know what could be going on it with it, sorry.
