Aggggghhhhhh!!

Geez..i can't win...i am woeking fairly close to home the last while and slip home for lunch..so I am here in the morning..here at lunch and here in the late afternoon..and the BCMs are laying and the eggs are freezing before i can get to them...this cold snap is aggravating and i have frozen ponds everywhere in my yard...the icw is incredible..i don't care if spring takes it's time getting here but this cold gets right in the bones...and today was exceptionally bitter for some reason...ugh.........

I know what you mean. And quail eggs freeze even faster than chicken eggs if that's any consolation.

Today here was a cold east lazy wind as Mom called it . To lazy to go around yu so it went right thru yu .

Having the same problem with freezing! My girls just started laying again...Is there anything you can do with the eggs, or do you just toss them?

If they aren't cracked I hardboil them.

As @Killerbunny said, if they are cracked they get tossed. That's what we do here, but if they aren't cracked they get steamed. Or I wait until they're thawed, then they're scrambled and fed back to the birds.

Geez, I had my young hatch outside for 3 days...They were settling in with the big girls...then bam! -23 inside the house again......it's amazing how much 9 6 week old Silkies generate.

We don't seem to have any problem with eggs freezing, I think it's because there is enough birds and now mostly laying, the hens keep taking turns and keep the eggs warm.
And in the Ameraucana pen, 10 hens not laying, no problem eggs freezing at all

it takes 40 seconds for my lab to eat a non frozen egg and clean up the drips. it takes 2 minutes for him to eat a frozen cracked egg. his coat is nice and shiny. lol 3 frozen solid turkey eggs this morning. must have laid last night after dark! gah!

Too funny WLLady! I was going to suggest putting the frozen eggs in a baggie in the freezer and saving them for adding to doggie dinners, or even feeding them back to the chickens (after they have been cooked of course).
