Egg question

Post by Shnookie » Sat Jan 12, 2019 7:27 pm

Some of my Ameraucana pullets have started laying. The eggs are light green. I noticed that the inside of their shells are white, not green. I don't remember the eggs from my other Ameraucana pullets being white inside. Is this a pullet thing, or a genetic thing?

The shell on the right side is from one of my Ameraucana hens.

Mine are blue all the way through. Same with my green and olive eggers. Can't help further, sorry.

do you have a white egg to put them beside? i think you'll likely find they are light light blue all the way through but the green on the outside is making them look more white than they are.....and if the blue is super super pale it can look almost white....and yes, pullet eggs can have a darker outside shell with much lighter inside because the shell gland is still maturing....but shouldn't last long.....
i also think there are way more egg colour genes than we realize or know....and that some act differently. (bit of a cop-out answer, but what i think....) LOL

Thanks. I have read that blue/green eggs are supposed to be colored all the way through the shell.

Pull any membrane off that can make them look whiter.
