New Arrival

Post by Killerbunny » Thu Oct 11, 2018 12:35 pm

Pics of the new arrival. Sweet little feathered legs. The Mum lays a green egg so I'm hoping for a pullet to check what the genetics are.

I think Brebis and Jan both have kids from these parents.

Sadly just 1. There were problems when another hen tried to turf her out when I had the door open for a potty break. Eggs got broken and the final 2 died without pipping the membrane. One was steamrollered the same day but looked like it had an infection in the shell. Likely I couldn't get the eggs wiped down enough. Hope this little one survives. The butt shot as she got all shy was to show colouring.

She is adorable! yes, I have two from those eggs. Both look to have some Brahma somewhere in there. Baby has columbian patterning in there. Does she also have grey stripes on her back?

Must be a boy or a turkey cross. Rushing off to check things out and not listening to distraught broody LOL!

I must say the SOLO Ameraucana hatched last year hs never rely integrated in to the flock.
After the first summer of hanging out with mama, she is now truly solo, completely ignoring her flock of dozen Ameraucanas, doing her own thing, always way away from others, really surprised nothing picked her off yet.
They must learn to be part of the flock from their hatch mates and if that is missing become a crabby old hen :)
Maybe Ross was right, being an only child I am starting to see that :-)
