WOW!!! It's Hot

Post by muffin57 » Sat Aug 11, 2018 1:20 pm

How's everyone doing in this heat? I didn't do much yesterday and I won't be doing much for the next three days, as long as, this heat wave continues. My husband suffered from heat exhaustion yesterday at work. Feel sorry for all those that have to work outside in this heat. It is 30 right now feeling like 33 and probably going to get hotter. Heat record broken in Calgary yesterday with a temp of 36. Take care everyone and keep cool.

I slow right down when it gets really hot and humid.
Yesterday was nice here; we put down 18 meat chickens.

Yes, Ross I did think of snow. The temp went to 32, but it is now 30 feeling like 36. A heat warning has been issued for Sunday through until Tuesday. The chicken coop and run sure is quiet. All the chickens and ducks are hiding in the shade. The humidity is awful and I guess it gonna get any better for a few days, but worse. Not looking forward to it.

I am loving the heat. The humidity has broken somewhat here, which helps...earlier in the summer, we had some days of 47 degree temperatures with the humidity. It was over 40 for a solid week and a half. I'm pretty heat tolerant, but I'm not a spring chicken anymore, and those temps pushed my limits!!! I could always tell when I'd overdone it, because I'd be nauseated the next day. Compared to those, 30-35 feels like a cool spring day! But I may be a little weird--I won't even get in a swimming pool unless it's 29 degrees. I am NOT looking forward to winter, so I will take each scorcher as they come and be grateful. Not too much longer, and it will be -35. :sSig_censored: :sSig_censored: :sSig_censored:

@windwalkingwolf I couldn’t agree more. And that’s coming from someone without ac of any kind!
Every time my lips start to form a complaint about the heat I think of shovelling snow and lugging wood and I shut up fast lol. I love summer!

My only complaint is that I have to lug my hatches in and out of the house at night. They aren't fully feather and I worry about them in the coop. I've been luck enough to be able to go float around in my in-laws pool and few times a week! Bring on summer!!!

No AC here either but we've been fine. It's mainly the turkeys that hate the heat but those 2 silly broody girls hatched just fine!
