Hatch Announcement
Re: Hatch Announcement
...and then there were 10. Woke up one morning to find the smallest of the 11 dead, after the 3rd or 4th day in the brooder. It was just not as active as the rest, from the time it hatched.

Re: Hatch Announcement
I've been hatching long enough that when I see one that's inexplicably small or lagging, I know what's going to likely happen without human intervention...even raising bantam chicks together with large fowl chicks can sometimes be tricky...but it still makes me sad, every time. Sorry about the little one

Re: Hatch Announcement
Very sorry about the little one. It's so hard when you sweated and worried about them for 21 days and a couple of days in they die.
