20 black 8 columbian?

Can somebody explain why if parents are white crested blue and white crested black, I have three solid black and two white crested black? I think one of the black ones might have a beard.

No :-)

Your question should really be posted in the Breeding section...
Fascinating subject, the question of breeding blues have been revisited many times over the years, the Crest added to that conundrum just boggles the mind :)

:rubbingchin: hmmm. The hint of two black and two columbian, plus @Ontario Chick said "only black and columbian", leads me to arrive at the conclusion that there must be fourteen of each. My mind cannot accept this unlikely scenario, so if that is in fact what you got, I will be well and truly gobsmacked. If those numbers aren't what you got, I will need another hint, I'm twisting in the wind here roflmbo

Yes. The simple answer is, you did not hatch enough chicks

14 of each would be too good to be true.....but if i wasn't involved in any way might have happened (if i was involved they'd all be blue boys with 8 toes or something LOL)

4 of each and the rest were something else!!!
16 and 8?or 8 and 16? Lol oh wait that doesnt add up to 28.....geez um 12 and 16....4x plus 4y equals 28.....
Therefore x equals 28 minus 4y all divided by 4???

roflmbo

So there's no other colours besides black and Columbian? If that's true, I'll still be gobsmacked roflmbo Um, hmmm... Still a wild guess as to numbers though, so I might as well guess optimistically... Four black and twenty four Columbian?
