this boxing day Lizzie decided to start taking down the tree and everything else.... said boxing day is for boxing everything up. LOL, thats a new one around here. Dec 27 Lizzie went to tsc to try to pick up 2 pairs of of jack stands for me at 50% off, wellI i got one set. thats it, no boxing day shopping around here. were cheap enough or rather economical all year long that we really dont need any special reasons to attempt to pretend to be on boxing day.

I think the saddest thing I have ever seen was a commercial on TV showing young mothers with small children, according to the advert "making memories" by heading to Walmart !!!!!
I thought how sad, that shopping has become an entertainment and there isn't one day in the week when there is time to do something completely different and the retail workers have time off just like everybody else ?
That is bad OC but I can top that! Did anyone see the pain medication commercial that said instead of leaving out cookies and milk, we should leave out some pills for Santa, in case he gets aches and pains. Yes just leave out some pills where little kids are going to be running around, I can't see anything bad happening there. :sSig_censored: !!! Imagine the commercials when pot is legal, special brownies for Santa? Disgusting!

I am totally on board with the idea that losing that 'day of rest' in the week is sad. Same as 24 hr grocery stores. How stupid is that. No one can tell me that their life is so consumed that the only time they can buy groceries is 3 o'clock in the morning, like wth?...anyway, I can't see it reverting back to what it was so the best we do is in our own lives manage things as we wish and hopefully pass on some of those values to our kids. MJ and I have trimmed down our lives quite a bit on the consumer side of things over the years. Money doesn't grow on trees and credit is the devil's toolbox so when you look at things that way it's not so hard to do, but in truth, we need little...life is good and I'm not a disciple of "he who dies with the most toys wins" :running-chicken:

"Yes, to the last part. Also distracting people are cell phones and the apps on them, as well as the legalization of certain drug use, which is also a tax grab because our government is broke."

well, the legalization of "pot" is a mixed bag as the pharmaceutical companies will lose a lot of sales of "pain meds". Less burned out livers and kidneys and other "side effects" from chemical meds vs the side effects of pot. If I had a legit medical need I wouldn't hesitate but I am 45 and haven't tried it yet.
But the new can of worms is "dosage control" and running heavy equipment, driving a car, and a thousand other things where we need to be on the ball. Not to mention the brain damage on the teenage brain. The robot cars are coming so the toking and driving won't be a long term problem (but any capable hacker or gov't can control your car while you're in it).

It's always the issue of theory vs practice... sheesh.

keeping us "entertained" and distracted, well its an old magicians trick to talk and get you to look over here while I do this over there. How I wish back for every hour I spent on video games (not to mention the quarters at the corner store).

At the end we're all worse off.

Smoking pot and using medical marijuana (via prescription) are two totally different things. And the medical marijuana suppliers are certainly not shying away due to legalization. You don't feel stoned taking a medically grown product.

That facility is very close to me. The expansion is close to complete.
I personally don't see the issue with legalization (and no I'm not a pot head). I simply think that the same fears and doom and gloom were thrown about before the legalization of alcohol or gambling. Are they great for society? Maybe not. But will we see the streets filled with pot smokers jumping behind the wheel to terrorize quiet neighborhoods? I doubt it. I'm far more concerned about being t-boned by a texter than a smoker.

im just going to say that if Pot wasn't outlawed in the beginning of the early 1900's due to (mostly) the petroleum industry the world would be a completely different place today. the petroleum industry had created all these wonderful products that were traditionally made from hemp and they needed to remove their competition. back then every medicine had marijuana in it, it was all ready known of its health benefits. it wasn't outlawed because of its effects ever, hemp and marijuana were considered one and both made illegal for the same reasons. none of this stuff is new technology, its all well over 100 years old. plastics, ethanol, gasoline? all were first made from hemp. i haven't even started on the health benefits.... its been proven to be beneficial on everything it has been tested on... can it CURE cancer??? you bet your ass.

well I for one am glad that these stupid laws are finally changing. to many people have been made criminals or made to feel like a criminal for really no good reason at all. tax grab or whatever dont care.... just legalize it. I have read all the current and proposed laws on this subject.... were definitely finally moving in the right direction and its about friggin time!!!

well I almost deleted this post.... but screw it! posting.

I know one lady with breast cancer living in Oklahoma. She is in pain and MJ works to stop it. She is not allowed it in that state but they will prescribe as many opioids as she wants even though they don't work well for her! SHe has to drive out of state ad come back like a criminal.
When I tore my knee up and also when I had my BC surgery they were pushing heavy duty painkillers at me like crazy "in case" I needed them even though I kept refusing. And they wonder why we have an opioid epidemic.
