Please be aware that this park may have a total alcohol ban at some dates. They will search your vehicle on the way in if one is in effect so tour the local vineyards and purchase souvenirs on the way home!

BAHAHAHAHA! I actually hope you DON'T drive a microbus, Richard's been looking for one for years, and you might find yourself having to thumb your way home!

Ok just to get the ball rolling a bit more what about a conservation area that has group picnic sites. I would cost a bit for entry and site rental.

Maybe somewhere within an hour of Toronto.

I have have any experience with these locations just throwing it out as a starting point.

Here is Toronto area website: http://trca.on.ca/enjoy/locations

I was going to ask Tom to look into a few of these ones today too. Maybe I can add to his list with Jims link. I'm swamped in year end with T4 & T5's breathing down my neck and time isn't on my side. I was also thinking once we get a few sites/locations that are suitable (including Jan's) we could do a poll and the majority wins.

TomK you have time today?

Sandy....funny you should ask...lol..I was looking for parks/campgrounds a little north of TO with the idea of people travelling east or west to get to a middleish location and avoiding the city...I still have no idea why someone actually chooses to live there...there are a couple of provincial parks up around simcoe/barrie/in that zone..kinda kawarthaish...the biggest thing about the prov parks is there reservation system...I hate it...absolutely hate it...you have to know your plans so far ahead and then lock them in with the reservation...I've travelled and gone to a park to stay the night and there's nada available even tho its half full...drives me insane...anyway, I digress, they have great amenities and facilities so lets pick one and get this happening...we will need some of the other less chatty members to give input tho....so if you are reading this, please speak up..this is an opportunity for everyone and will/can/could/would be a really amazing fun time...I'll put up a list later today of some locations I would consider...

p.s. ...I love WWWs offer and its just 25 minutes from me and is beyond generous...but I'm thinking midway too much...if it is here, then perhaps a following year it is west...just a thought too

Great idea Tom. Probably should go middle ground this year.

Rather than Provincial Parks, try conservation areas. The GRCA has a number. There is one in Belwood that has a lot going for it. Sorry, don't know any north of Toronto. Definitely great to avoid trying to maneuver around it, but probably impossible.
