Well. Caught the stupid cat. Of course in the trap that stinks. She cant figure out why she smells. Shes a bright one....NOT.
Didnt catch anyone else overnight....
Traps staying out.
At least its not too bad. But we need to catch mom yet.

Momma skunk is probably happy you're looking after her kids and buggered off somewhere else to have fun without them!

Re: Good Morning!
Number 4.....
Looked up and it was looking in the patio door.
Since we have cat doors this is not something i want to encourage....
3 to go....
Hate killing them....but i sure dont want them in the house!!!
Cat is washed too. Stupid doorknob got herself trapped in the trap covered in skunk baby scent....so she just learned that hydrogen peroxide baths are not fun.
This is not how i envisaged spending my holiday day from work. My PT wants me laying down and taking it easy all day as much as possible. I am sure shooting skunks is not the same as laying down....

Re: Good Morning!
numbers 5 and 6 relocated this morning. something had touched the food in the other trap and not tripped it....so there may be another. we still haven't seen or caught mom. but the "eau d'essence" is less around that shed now.
which is good, because the fuel is in there and the atv is running low....
they are cute little buggers. but wow these two this morning were stinky. very very stinky.
fingers crossed there aren't any more!
just waiting on the vet to arrive around noon. physiotherapy all done for now, well, mostly done. there are 2 exercises i really hate. but i'll do them. just later. LOL. today is vaccinations for the ponies. poor ted has had a rough hoof month....too much water and too much running around like a mad horse in thunderstorms. he's a little chipped up around the edges. farrier was here yesterday, thinks he'll be okay with some supplements. the ground is just too wet for their hooves to harden up!
and looks like maybe rain today too. again. oh yay. i really feel for people trying to cut and dry and bale hay right now. the straw is coming off here now too....
still kicking around the idea of doing my own hay in a couple years. might plant 1/4 with wheat this fall, and then overseed in hay next year. see how it does. then of course i'll need the equipment. a mower, rake and baler. oh joy. decisions. looks like my hay guy will likely retire in the next 2 years too, so.....yikes!
today i think i'm going to try to move some birds around-get some girls up into the barn from the overly randy boys out there.....or maybe put them in with the younger boys. they're being picked on. and the guineas will not stay in the garden, they're voluntarily in the turkey pen. i put them back to the trailer in the garden and they were back with the turkeys in about 10 seconds. so. guess the skunks scared them over.
okay, hope everyone has a wonderful day.

Re: Good Morning!
I saw an interview on tv - fur coatmakers made a skunk coat. It was beautiful but couldn't get the smell out.

Re: Good Morning!
I've caught skunks eating with the cats. No-one minded the other. I could walk past them and they hardly noticed.
