There is no pus in it. I scraped away what I could. :( flushed it and filled it with polysporin and wrapped it.

Once the wound is open you could try soaking it in warm water with Epsom salts before you put on ointment and wrap it. I don't know how much Epsom salts you would use. Probably not much. You may only need to treat this once or twice a day if it's wrapped.

I had to treat an abcess in the sole of my horse's foot using Epsom salt soaks. It worked well.

Its looking okay-i wouldnslather that in polysporin, put a gauze around it and then vet wrap. Then check it tomorrow

With epsom salt usually warm water and then add and stir until it no longer dissolves in the water. The salt will pull out any liquid pus....for horses it also softens the hoof wall to let the infection work its way out through the path of least resistance,

It looks like a core, no blood in it.

Was there any solid white or yellow chunks in there? It does look like bumble foot, but could also be a spider bite. In my own experience, penicillin doesn't work on bumble foot. Or spider bites :/ I agree with soaking it and packing with polysporin.

Chicken pus is like hard cheesey yellow orange gunk...it takes a good squeeze to get it out

Nothing chunky, nothing I could squeeze. It was almost like cooked white meat. I think IRS to scrape a bunch of it out but there was so much that I left it some. I packed it with polysporin and wrapped it. May try to scrape away more tomorrow if she is ok. She was still walking and standing on it after.
