Good morning everyone! what a gorgeous weekend.....and today is looking decent too! i was soooo looking forward to the first asparagus, which is up, and got frost, sigh. so they were all mushy and wilty. darn. maybe later on in the week....it feels sooo much like early summer! yay!
i don't want to say it too loudly, but i have had 3 wonderful days in a row with my back. i even did some more garden clean up, and walked 3 miles each day, and put up some temporary fencing, and brushed the horses, and transplanted some daylilies! and played with the turkey poults....silly friendly things. and woke up early this morning feeling just fine! even doing all my physio - which takes about 45 minutes twice a day right now!
whoohoo! still trying to take it carefully and slowly, but really very happy about how it's going now.

looks like i need to replant the peppers and tomatoes. the one scraggly tomato that sprouted looks awful, i suspect there was a seed issue....so might go drop in on BVF this weekend and visit dam seeds.

good luck to everyone going turkey hunting! season opens on tuesday! should be exciting. the hens around here are already on eggs, and the boys are BORED and running up and down the field all day long. LOL. it's tough work being a tom i guess. sad i'll sit this season out, but it's only for the one season. hubby found everything he needs, sights for the shotgun, shells etc, he's all ready. i think he could probably just sit on the patio and wait for them to walk by! or, stand in the middle of the driveway, given how many we have raced up the driveway in the last few days.

hope everyone has a wonderful day.

OMG. So cold in here!! The thermostat says 56F. I'm starting a fire. I'm sick and tired of tending the fire. I'm the ONLY one who brings wood in. Keeps it going. The other one who lives here... can't keep it going thru the night.... he usually sleeps on the couch... cause he watches sports... then wants to catch the 11 oclock news... and if he tries to come up after that and wakes me up.. I'm awake for hours. So... he usually falls asleep during the games..... and rarely sees the news.... and when he gets up for a bathroom visit... thats when he should tend the fire.

tired.

COLD east wind today.

Its so freaking cold that east wind... no matter which direction it comes from its cold.

I'm glad your back is doing great!! Hoping for completely normal by summers end!!

I will GIVE you pepper plants... but you have to keep them warm, lol. I have tons, as usual.

Its not too late to plant tomatoes. 4 weeks before you plant them out is plenty of time. I wouldn't plant them out until the end of may anyhow.

Ok... the fire has taken off. Honestly.. sometimes I wonder how people torch stuff, I can have a DRY woodstove... DEAD dry kindling/ wood.. newspaper... and have a hard time getting a fire going. Ugh.

Good morning!
Bright and sunny 2C here, could use gloves as I am typing.
Coop completely cleaned out and with help from older son, fresh pea stone on the floor, windows washed and vacuumed, all around, ready for a breeding group of Columbian Wyandottes, I feel like an expectant mother.....
...until I find out what the fertility is..... ;) new untried cockerel, so we will see what happens.
Time to put the netting on hostas and Day lilies and plant some parsley today, and start cleaning the bed stuff of last year, ornamental grades have stems like trunks and peonies are peaking thru last years dead stalks from last year, I guess the deer missed those.
Have a sunny one!

Well poor Kibbles and Bits are looking worn from Chunky! It appears that what he lacks in skill he makes up for in enthusiasm. I tried putting a couple more pullets in to give some respite but the dottes attacked them even though they'd met through the fence. At last this chap doesn't seem to have a thing for my rubber boots like Lucky LOL!

You may have to take him out for a while, to give the girls some rest, I should have couple (or 4) more girls for you in June :)

I might have too. It's funny the girls still follow him around like giggling teenagers. They are in saddles too.
