It sure was a great day at the Sarnia Show! we had a lot of fun, met up with a bunch of PTO'ers, it was great meeting and talking to you all! The kids are really excited about pigeons Ross and that was awesome how you talked to them and had them all cooing at the birds. I sure learned a lot myself.

HAHA Ross! the new Rooster is in the back sun room! He will be with his new ladies soon!

Great to see everyone there! Al, Lizzie your kids are absolutely amazing. I should have stuck around to see Ross teach them to coo....if just to watch Ross coo. Next time i see you ross i am bringing a "back up awareness stick" for your better half to use as protection-possibly electric, possibly pointed lol And if you guys reading this were at the show you would understand what i mean. ;-P

Got home, and then had surprise company show up for dinner so finally got the birds all watered and fed etc a little later tonight. My welsummers are finally laying again, and my black gold ameraucana project birds gave me an egg today too. Guess the moutling is finally coming to an end....looks like tomorrow the weather is changing...nosediving to winter, so morning will be cleaning up the lumpy paddock to save horse feet and washing waterers. Then maybe ordering my garden seed for the summer finally. I usually have that done by now....

One of the new BSW turkey girls is laying! Two little 'pullet' eggs from her in the past two days! And, Pierre the tom is furiously strutting LOL. Actually, I don't think he's stopped since I got him, but now he's got a girl laying down for him, I thought he might cool his jets a little...NOPE! So, now to decide whether to take the eggs away until I've got a coop/run ready for a mama with poults, or to let her do her thing. I'm usually in favour of the latter method, but with so much still left to build and do, I'm afraid having new poults running around in there would invite chaos. Wonderful, glorious, peeping trilling chirping chaos.
Can't wait for those pictures Al! I always look forward to seeing shows vicariously through them lol. I hope you got some of the rare, wingless pigeons :D

I'm glad you found out about PTO Deb! And if there's any PSO member you know who hasn't made it to PTO yet, invite them on over...PMing is still available at PSO until the end of the month.

Pouring here, was going to put fresh straw in the quonsets, but it would be soaked before I got it there-no access from the barn for people, just chickens, some design anomalies caused by add on building. ;)
so will skip the usual Sunday morning hike and go directly to Barn and Coffee maker. ;)

Please send the laying vibes here! The full size eggs will be like XL hen eggs about 75 grams.

and a happy birthday to baronrenfrew! who is born exactly 1 year to the day after me! :-) LOL. hope your birthday is fun!

today....pouring rain. and of course it's "move hay" day. awesome. i also want to scoop the wet litter from around the waterers in the barn loft so it doesn't freeze solid this afternoon once the temperature drops...which its already doing...quickly! we just had the weirdest thing happen. it was POURING from the south west, virtually no wind...then all of a sudden it fogs up, on ONE side of the house only, in the west, no fog on the east. the fog was a straight line all the way from the north woods to the road, and past the road on down the neighbours field south of us. then the wind came up, due north, switched just like that, fog just disappeared, and now it's howling out, and the temp went from 6C to 3C in less than 2 minutes. even the horses went to the barn. wow. that's a first. must have been right on the edge of the front at that instant!

hoping to head out for dinner tonight if it's not turned to freezing rain....had cake already (not this morning, last night LOL). in the meantime, after hay moving, the last of the changes to the forum will happen-deleting the sales and wanted threads from the actual forum, i PMd everyone yesterday that still had postings outstanding from the classifieds, so if you haven't retyped them, please do! If not, I will assume the post is no longer required. I also moved the sales and shows threads, and there are now spots for posts for other animals and non-chicken birds discussions. If there's anything i seem to have missed let me know....i'll try to get it added today.

we're working on a farm website too! yay! and the new weather station is up and seems to be working beautifully. hope everyone has a great day!

holy crap we have 70km/hr winds (from 0 at 9am) and it's now 0C from being 8C at 6am. it is snowing like mad, and blowing.....sandy, you might get your wish. we just cancelled going out for dinner! birds are all up on the roosts again...one big gust of wind over the coop was enough for them! it'll be a good day to play in the barn, change some leg bands, put down some extra shavings and generally hang out.....
