My Winter Waterer
I came up with this a couple of years back because I hate carrying water back and forth all winter...and frozen waterers are the worst! Maybe some of you would be interested so i thought I'd share. There is a patio stone underneath that a chimney block sits on with a 100 watt light inside, then another patio stone sits on top.
The best part about this is that it waters 3 pens at the same time. I only have to change one waterer for three different pens...my kind of laziness! lol!
I have an 8 x 12 coop that is split in three and this goes in the place where the three pens meet.
Here is my coop

Thank you! I have too much time on my hands hubby tells me :P And a big imagination and creative edge. The coop is actually raised 24" off the ground so one of the pens goes outdoors through a floor hatch and can enjoy the cool of the fenced in but airy "basement" And the other pen has an 8 x 8 covered run for when i am not free ranging them all. The last pen is straight free range, I just open the door.
The waterer works until about 30 below...then it does freeze, but it is still only one waterer to carry back to the house so it is great.
