Mysterious Male

Post by Fullcircle » Thu Feb 09, 2017 1:55 pm

So, last fall, we had a trench dug, and ended up with a tall, dark and handsome addition to our flock. For free! He's a gentleman, so he got to stay, and our mean and obnoxious roo went on a road trip with the broilers...

I think we will contain our Silkie/Orpington roo, and let each of them cover some of our ISA hens, and see what hatches, just for kicks...

Any guesses on what he is/could be? I'm wondering about BCM or Welsummer, but I haven't seen any IRL, so would appreciate insights from those of you who have!!

Ameracauna/Easter egger, I agree with thegawd.
If he is you may get some nice blue/green/ olive eggs out of his daughters.

I don't know anything about wheaten Ameraucanas, so I'm going to go with what Kenya said. But if he landed on my doorstep, I'd call him an EE and guess he was black ameraucana crossed with a red sexlink or buff Orpington.

Yup I am going to agree with Al and gang. I bought a rooster a few years ago that looked like him, thinking it was Ameraucana and sure enough all the chicks from white egg layers grew up to lay blue and green eggs.
