Good Morning!

I really, REALLY like it, both the new logo, and the new URL. Especially the new URL. Generally, I dislike change, but simplifying and streamlining is usually a good thing, and it looks like you're going all-out to make it painless and seamless (idiot proof lol) :iheartpto:

Good morning, everyone! My hen Frankie, one of the first hatched out with fire, is broody. She raised two clutches last summer, which is her usual (she's generally like clockwork, May and August) but apparently wants to get a headstart on this year. I am NOT letting her hatch anything, there just isn't space for even one more LOL.
My decision not to buy any chickens this year (with the exception of a dozen hatching eggs I'm getting in a couple months), or order from hatcheries, has sort of backfired on me. Instead of spending time poring over hatchery catalogues and breeder listings, and obsessively updating wish lists and orders, I'm spending my chicken money on exotic flavours of tea. I've already burned through all the
Cream Earl Grey I can find, and earlier, I caught myself obsessively updating wishlists of chocolate black teas from half a dozen different tea merchants. And ordering three teas from two. One is a blueberry dark chocolate, one an orange vanilla chocolate, and one a spicy concoction with cinnamon and chilis. Buying chickens is actually cheaper, but tea takes up less space in the kitchen and stays there for a lot less time! :coffee: :coffeeee:

Well. Logo. Hmmmm. Let me know if you would like some not-so-happy-with-it feedback. Otherwise I'll just roll with it. Doesn't matter to me really.
Love the .ca and I absolutely trust your judgement on any changes that are needed or are better for us. Except the logo lol.
.ca Makes us look more valid/important.

Day 3 of fog. Had a break on Saturday from the fog for a few hours but by the time I got back home at 10pm it took double the time to get home. Dark roads, no street lights .. I was very thankful for any homes that had lights on to help keep me on the road. Sunday another terribly foggy day. Today, so far, isn't much better.

Ava chased squirrels and got stung by bees on Saturday. She just won't leave the hives alone. Drake got stung once and gives a huge girth when we walk over there. Not Ava. Doink!
So she is limping with her front leg. She wiped out in the mud chasing the squirrels. She is soooooo fast that she could of gotten them by the tail of she really wanted too.

She isn't too happy about not playing soccer with our basket ball, or nerf football, but I need that leg to heal. She is the most active girl I've ever had and she whines and whines at the door, ball in mouth :(.

Well, I'm off. Enjoy your day!

Cheers

The new logo...what to say...hmmmm.. I can never to comment on things like this because as far as websites go I don't notice all the extraneous stuff and so I had to look twice when it was mentioned in the posts... The only criticism if it actually is one is that the statement that says join the conversation has no contrast so it's very hard to make out clearly... As far as design and colors and so on that is such a subjective notion that virtually everybody is going to have an opinion that differs from everyone else so it's just fine by me... And I tend to leave my browser open on my iPad 100% of the time so it looks like I'm always here but the new URL will be kind of Handy... So there... LOL :running-chicken:

Thanks! I also see that on small screens it's a bit of a resolution issue. I'll collect the feedback and improve on the banner when I have all the comments.

Gooooood Morning Everyone!

Life is busy, as per usual.
Most recently I had someone try to break into my home while I was home, resulting in a panicked called to 9-1-1 and cops here incredibly quick, despite how far I am from a town. The dogs I had just put in the kennel to wash floors and I suspect when the dogs went bezerk and they saw or heard me coming they took off. SCARY!

Ava had to go to the vet yesterday because she has an issue with squirrels  . So the squirrel made a sharp left for a tree and so did Ava. But Ava wiped out in the mud and came back limping. Me and my worry level due to what Cinder went through, off to the vet we go. Plus I needed her to get her ears checked out anyways. Soft tissue injury to her elbow, so rest. baaahaaaaa! Rest. We are trying but for a girl who is outside for hours and hours running from point A to point B asking her not to is proving a challenge, but I know the less the better right now. She also had yeast in her ears. Gag I know. She swims, but this girl is one of THOSE that swims under the water so I need to make a point to dry her ears after swimming. Yup, swimming at the lake in January is a thing over here. Well for now it's off the to-do list. Much like her ball playing. Drops for the ears and rest for her front elbow. Wish me luck.

So. I'm miserable. I'm bitter. I'm frustrated. And I struggle to not lose my poop daily over these turbines. I work and work and I don't have anything I am enjoying anymore. I can't go for my nature walks without the turbines constant reminders because they are right in my face and very noisy. I have gone out for dinner with friends to the keg most recently and I struggle (more than usual) to enjoy public settings, my ears ring and ring and they are plugged (cabin pressure). it leaves when I have left the area for several hours, like when I go sleep at my sisters, but if I am going into a noisy place like the keg was that evening, my ears don't settle. Then everything is amplified and muffled and it is everything I have to not have a complete meltdown and storm out. But then I fester. I am working in letting it go more ... But it's very hard when you need to be on a prescription to live in your house and the turbines have ruined a lot of plans and are forcing Us from our home. Listening to music violently loud, which has always been my outlet for life's asshole moments, is gone. I can't tolerate music loudly in my ears anymore. So my frustration is fuelled by these previous enjoyments no longer a go-to for me. I gave up the second set of books because the company was not compliant with Rev Can and I won't put my signature on their forms and I'm not interested in being associated with that poop. The last thing I need is a flag with being a business owner. No thank you! The future expansion of the business in on hold. Energy costs are through the roof and a carbon tax, well we have to wait and see where that goes as well. Small business taxes are up and it's a poop storm that never seems to take a break. Again, our next move, business wise, is election dependent.

So a friend sat me down, made some coffee and served me up a Mennonite buttertart. Ok you have my attention lol. Said I must do something I like every day. I'm a better human to everyone, including myself, when I'm a happier person. Obviously. So .... We talked about what I can do. Not a whole lot without leaving my home every day. Not an option as I work here. So. Somehow we came up with the most fabulous of ideas. I ordered ducks! Hahaha. Ducklings are coming in April. I so miss my coop chores and the enjoyment it brought me. Every morning I get a text from her that says one simple thing 'ducks.' She's the best! Totally gets me as a person and that in its self is amazing.

Houses around here aren't selling. One house went to the auction and even then didn't sell. I suspect next year when the leaves fill in, in the spring, the house will go for sale, post construction and will sit for a good chunk of time. I already know I can't live in the city. My soul will die a torturous slow death. I just have to wait to see who wins the next election before we decide where to move. Has everything to do with the GEA and what will happen around it. But why should I be Duckless? So now I get to go back to the habitat for humanity reuse store and start back again with the duck coop planning. Wooohooo!

There is also a new baby in the family arriving end of March so that will add some happiness to everyone's life. I have a mini project that I hope to get to the local market(s) in the summer, but we'll see. It's all about time.

It's raining and windy. Umm. It's January right?

Have a good day everyone. Cheers,

good morning everyone!
glad to hear you are getting ducks sandy! you really enjoyed them before, i'm happy for you! (and i still love how poofy squishy they are when they hatch! LOL-they cannot sink!!!) oh sandy- pick up some "epi-otic" from your vet. seriously. it's about 20$ but it will dry out her ears after swimming. i use it with my lab, and it's the ONLY thing that stops the yeast in its tracks. you just drop a few drops in and rub it in. it has it's own drying agent, and it's an antiseptic too. works wonders. i now only have to use it in the heat of summer when he goes swimming in the river.

i woke up this morning after a horrid night tossing and turning (such as i can)...i just could NOT get comfortable, all these little lightning zaps up and down my back and my leg, and it was like being randomly stung by fireants. i actually got up to make sure the cat on the bed didn't have fleas!!!! (nope, none of them do). so. finally dragged my butt out of bed at 730...miserable...GIVE ME CAFFEINE....sigh. and as soon as i got up the pressure that has been in my back since surgery just melted away.....i just finished walking on the treadmill-35 minutes straight with zero pain, anywhere! my right leg was working right, and no pain up my back, no stumbling, no tripping....and i didn't even have to regain my balance at ALL (aka, didnt hold the arms of the treadmill at all!) in that 35 minutes! plus i walked faster than i did before! so all those obnoxious "stings" last night must have been nerve reattachments/repairing. my goodness this healing thing takes forever. so. feeling pretty good today.

so. now the tough part. DO NOT PUSH IT......lol. yeah, right. take it easy. so i think i'm going to be on the hunt for a physiotherapy place that isn't too far away since i'll probably need that next week or the week after. i'm anxious to get started on doing SOMETHING to get stronger again and back into doing things! this whole being patient thing is the biggest challenge i must admit.

it's actually snowing here. wet snow and wind. guess winter is coming back. hopefully it will cool enough to set the maple trees up for syrup season. i also noticed the days are starting to get a little bit longer now. nice. spring is on the way!!!!

@Maximus it really sucks that your life has been so affected (infected) by all of this. I feel for you. Very glad to hear you have ducks on the way!!! Even all of the planning between now and then is exciting and at least provides an outlet.

And @WLLady wow...The body works in mysterious ways! You are obviously doing something right because I'm sure your progress seems slow to you but it sounds quick to me and I'm sure your surgeon is going to be impressed...Don't let him take all the credit ;)

I'm off to go "picking" with my bro this aft at a reclaiming place. One of my all time favorite things to do and best done while hubby's away so I can hide everything I drag home ! Lol have a great one!
