Where can you buy decent welded wire?

Have a cool plan for a coop? Or new roost designs? Or you simply want to show off your new building.

We have a monster oil tank, all yours if you can pick it up, but it's a really big one (maybe 500 gallons?) It would heat a really big shop!

I remember crammin in a bunch of second hand chain link fence under my kids feet in my suburban... the rear cargo area was already full! haha Iv always had great customer service at the TSC in Sarnia. but it sure is hard to get the best knowledgeable staff with such a low pay grade. Its kinda like you either work there because you love this area and get paid crap, or your working there just to get a pay check. And you never know how your guna meet there... I met a felow PSO member there, I had a feeling like I knew who she was... I said hey... Your so n so aren't u... been friends ever since!
That's uncanny. I wonder if poultry people give off special vibes?

WLLady wrote:always always get your wire at a feed store.....and the feed store that sells feed for big animals too, like horses and stuff. "real" fencing usually is rolled, and wired in the roll, not wrapped (in my experience) so you can actually feel the wire. the smaller the number for gauge the bigger the wire diameter (that works for needles too-small number = big ouchy needle...if you get a flu shot with a 16g it's gunna HURT compared to a 23g). and then you can also see if it's welded or knotted. you can also test it and see if you like it. yes, it's more expensive than a hardware store, but it will last longer. with that said....my pens in the loft of the barn are all with rolls from TSC, but special ordered in-12g welded 1"x1" wire (not the normal 16-18 g wire....don't even bother with 20!). it's a total PITA that they don't deliver....and the "order to store" thing is PAINFULLY slow...it was 6 weeks for it to come in. and THEN they sent me 3 emails telling me to come and get it after i had already picked it up, AND billed me twice for it. GAH! my feed store i went to, ordered 2 rolls of 2x4 crib fencing, 10 g, it was in 2 days later, delivered no charge to my barn, and put neatly in the corner for me....those rolls are 100+ pounds a piece, took 2 guys to carry them each....no complaints there. Will be fencing my garden with that next year, since i didn't get it done this year. but they were $$...240$ or something each roll.
Thanks WL I'll see what they can order for me at the feed store~ sounds like good ole fashion service :chicken_dance:

If you're ever in the Dunnville area, triple m always carried a range of lengths, widths and mesh sizes. It's been a few years since I've been there, but they had an enormous selection. Also if anyone is looking for a rotary desk phone, they have enough of those to supply every government employee with one...and much more. If I recall, they sell a lot of items removed from buildings that their demolition division takes care of.

Sounds like it would be worth a trip to Dunnville. Not sure if I have any use for a rotary phone though, do they still work?

She was flabbergasted when i showed her how to work it....."but it's so slow! and what do you do if you make a mistake?"

That' s funny......... the other day we heard a good old fashioned landline phone hang up on our voice mail- knew it had to be an elderly relative. I doubt any of the younger generation could identify that noise!
