Good Morning!
Morning all!
warmer today-i think simply because that wind has finally gone down! i'll take it!
found a few frozen waterers yesterday-sigh. they're heated dog dishes and turns out the foil adhesive with the heater strip inside it is separating from the bottom of the bowls....so a bit of glue seems to have done the job this morning. everything was thawed. and one i opened and the clip from the thermostat to the negative wire was in about 10 pieces! go figure. so hubby to the rescue with a new clip and it's good as new!
hopefully they'll keep working.....hopefully!
have to figure out how to get about 40 birds up to hagersville this weekend. hubby i don't think can come with me because he's teaching....hm....might be able to meet colleen and bayvistafarm there! that would be nice, go out for coffee and then a visit. hopefully the weather stays okay. we didn't get a TON of snow, but there's some, but i have the winters on the truck now.....yay! thanks to hubby!
so nice being able to do that at home.
well, boss told everyone i'll be away. holy smokes i thought things were busy before...LOL. glad i get to work early and can get started on things before it gets really busy!!
hope everyone has a great day!

Good Morning!
Good morning,
digging out slowly, got more then our share I think, it looks very pretty, but birds are less then impressed nobody rushing out, what a difference from last year, when they were still out on the grass in December.
Wild turkeys are making the rounds must be slim picking at this point everything got covered so fast.

Good Morning!
Very pretty! I love your barn. You got lots more snow there than we did. If you would like to continue that trend for rest of winter I'm fine with that

Good Morning!
Happy day. We found a new farrier ! He came out last night and did everyone, 4 horses and 2 ponies. I've been trying to find someone I am happy with for awhile. I have a mini and a horse with problem feet so I need someone I trust who will work with me.
I have everyone feet and toenails done, debugging and deworming all done, garlic planted and some cages and pens clean and winter ready. A few more pens to clean and I think I'm good. I must be missing something, as this never happens to me.
Have a good day everyone.

Good Morning!
Morning all! well, things are getting a little more difficult and i have come to the realization that going to hagersville is a little over-enthusiastic...given that moving one chicken from the basement back to the barn last night just about did me in....sigh. so, going to stick closer to home. older boys will get processed this weekend, and the rest go to new homes.
And, found a couple of frozen heated dishes a couple of days ago, and last night was -6 so checked them all this morning and more than half of them need new thermostats! seriously!!????? argh! so. getting some replacements so i can just switch out thermostats when i have more time. bummer. those things only lasted 2 years! and it has to be thermostats, because i reglued all the heat tape...and they warmed up fine plugged in and empty, but as soon as they filled with cold water they pooched. sigh. will get them fixed later.
started the christmas shopping....gotta get that done asap!
and great news from 2 people fighting cancer that i know last night! the relief was pretty overwhelming....actually slept last night after being on the phone with 1 of them for almost an hour! PHEW!
okay, today we start moving, physically moving people into the new space....so i better go and designate areas for equipment etc.
hope everyone has a great day!

Good Morning!
So the new Wyandottes ventured out today. The 2 pullets flew back to the coop but Mr Chunky had to be picked up and carried back from his perch because he didn't want to get his feet snowy!

Good Morning!
Good evening!! Its dark out... I really should have been outside to lock up the girls... but they will all be inside... except sometimes some of those dumb birds like to sit outside, just where the light shines. They are something else. I will go in from the inside and walk thru to the door, and others will run out the door. Its a fair drop to the ground too, and then I have to kind of drop down to a bale... and try and chase them in. I have chased them lots... idiots.. so they aren't real 'tame'. They make me mad, really.
Going to get a real sloppy crappy night, of rain/snow/mixing/rain. Nice. Well into tomorrow. But the nice thing is... mild all week!! I am sure loving the above 0C temps... that means no frozen water bowls... dishes/pails!! Nothing has froze yet. If it stayed in the minus's, it would take a couple days before stuff starts freezing in the horse barn.
Gary ordered a horse shelter from Elmira. They will deliver in about 2 weeks. Poor horses have been in that stupid wind, and now cold rain for the next 24 hours or so...and this makes me mad... because a horse shelter has been in the 20 year plan, and I've yet to see one. If Dave and Jeremy and Gary got down to it, they could easily make one in a weekend. Well... nice weather has kind of come and gone for that.... and seeing as how hes taken the section of the hayshed back for hay.... (it holds 100 bales, the corner he had for them) I demanded that they have something. I DO have 2 standing stalls in the horse barn, where the turkeys/hens are.... but its so so dusty in there. Honey is already coughing from eating round bales... because you know horses can't just eat from the outside in... they bury their heads down in there, and fling hay every where. Horses are maddening. I could be very happy without them... but Melissa still wants them, and to tell you the truth... they are here until she takes them elsewhere, OR they die. I would forever be wondering how they were doing, and if they were happy. (although I know they won't be happy tonight).
Well... I best get to the barn. Make sure the cows have extra straw. Gary cleaned their manure pack out... so they are basically on the ground/cement. He did put a whole round bale down there.... but it gets
ted real fast.

Good Morning!
Well you can get a shelter and they may or may not use it, horses are contrary creatures, I'll see mine standing out in the snow and rain refusing to use it. I do notice them use it more in the summer time to get away from the mosquito's and flies.

Good Morning!
Kenya you are so right. Mine are a right sopping mess. Only came in to see who was messing with the water trough.
Fixed 8 waterers. Thermostats into all of them and they seem to work now. Broody mom got thrown outside into the barn without a nest box after the last egg blew up....she didnt leave the nest box at all-so all the
etc....sigh. but happy theres no chicks to deal with. Now ts getting a bunch gone this weekend and settling on what is left for the duration.
And i guess someone dropped by and spoke with the guys hunting my place about poaching and they were going to come by tonight and ask me if they are really supposed to be here etc etc....the guys texted me at work...i said "send him over after 5 lol" well. No one turned up to complain...and i dont recognize the guy or the truck description of the complainer...so who knows. The guys have my email on their phone saying its okay and my phone number and know if someone tells them they arent to be there to call the opp and show them my letter and give my phone number....gah. the group hunting are super nice guys....too bad someone interrupted them today.
And i get home tonight and theres big buck 12 pnt standing in my field and none of the guys are there-they are down the road lol. Go figure.
