Good Morning!
it was also a year ago today that we moved into the new house and I remember that snowstorm very well. I picked up the uhaul in Arkona and as I got closer to picking it up the snow got thicker n thicker the closer I got. and then it followed me back to the old place and snowed like crazy while we were loading. I dont think there was any snow at the new place when we finally got here. phew.
yup spent our first night here exactly a year ago today and were still unpacking and organizing. LOL

Good Morning!
Morning y'all
Hope you summer folk are enjoying this humid gross weather. I'm needing the cool crisp air. Summer is OVER Mother Nature lets get the weather in course. The No-See-Ums are out in full force. They love when you have hair and they get all tangled in it and bite all along your hair line. They drove me bonkers twice a season. Spring and fall.
Went to Toronto on Sunday to see Danny Bhoy (comedian) for my birthday. Massey Hall. First time I've ever been there. Fantastic. Funny. His opening act was absolutely hilarious. I would pay to see him headline. Anyways, quite the trip to Toronto from here but was a good time. (Took the train from Appleby).
Worked later yesterday so at dusk I took the dogs for a quick walk. Thankfully I put both on a leash because it was dusk and I expected to come across some SMALL wild life. Heading back home I could hear rustling in the bush along side of road. Both dogs had their noses in the air and drakes fur started to stand on his neck. I thought oh boy let me get home let me get home. And then the second voice pops in and says relax Max you're such a stress monkey. I could see the driveway and just wanted to get home lol.
Five HUGE coyotes appear. (Coy-wolfs no doubt) They just stood in the middle of road and stared with heads down and fur up. My dogs went bezerk. Drake is beyond himself foaming at the mouth and Ava all of a sudden is a fierce German shepherd. My heart is pounding. I'm holding them and trying to brains storm how I'm getting out of this. Thankfully Herm is yelling from behind me and is on his way; my neighbor heard the chaos and saw them in the field as we passed his house and as he says, predicted the confrontation. He fired a few rounds into the air. I can honestly say I was terrified of what was next. They pack didn't exactly run away. They looked at him and they weren't afraid. They simply wandered into the field across the road, which still had corn. I walked down the middle of the road and thankfully Herm walked me home.
He said he told Brenda (his wife) I had better get a boogie on, she's about to have some trouble, loaded up and headed out the door. Herm is almost 70 years old. I had no idea he had guns, and why should I, but boy was I glad to see a shotgun. Never thought I'd say that.
So guess what. Think I'll walk the dogs a bit earlier for their evening walk.
Have a good day y'all.

My girlfriend who crossbow hunts (she's out for deer season currently) and I will hopefully be in my bush this weekend as long as I can get some tags in Simcoe before then. Simcoe is the closest to me I believe. I was just on the phone with Lou and he said JT and him were doing firewood Sunday morning they saw a large animal cross about 30' from them in the bush. Lou being the city folk by nature, didn't think anything of it apparently.
Herm said last night that he is going to talk to the guy who took out a few in the spring. Wants to know if they are active around his farm again and he will let me know this evening. (This is the farmer whose old and retired hunting lab was destroyed by them while sleeping under a tree. I believe he took out a total of 3 last spring.) he figures we can map their routes and try to disrupt their route so they move on. anyways I'll leave the details out as its a public forum. Last spring they basically did a figure 8 around here between me, the farmer, through Herms side yard and across the field, looped around and back through. They have been gone all summer (that we have seen) and with my buffet free ranging I would of known if any were here.

Second...how terrifying! Hope you are able to thin them out. I had 3 stalking my yard last year that showed no fear. Unfortunately the property surrounding me is owned by one of "those people" who thinks they are cute and cuddly. Hubby would take them out but hard to do so on our side of the fence. I heard recently (not sure if it's true) that some county's are banning coyote hunting. These were mostly areas with a high percentage of vacation property...go figure. Would never wish to see someone harmed but those people need to feel the cold wild stare of one of these things looking at you or your pet as their next meal.
Hope you dont have anymore problems with them.
