i went out to the barn, came back to the house walking into the wind and thought "i wish i had my safety glasses!" because of the ice pellets whipping around in the wind so i suggested it to my hubby when he said he was going to walk the dogs to the mailbox and back. the lab didn't even look out the door, and went and put himself to bed in his crate LOL. when martin got back he said the safety glasses were a great idea LOL
it's yucky here. chores are done. horses are dutifully standing out in the weather....having had their oats in the barn....strange animals. but they're happy, came over for pats, and carrots and then back off to the hay. whatever. they can get into the barn if they want and there's hay inside too if they want. so unless the power goes out, i'm staying in now. I would highly recommend that no one try to travel tonight....stay home, stay safe. :)

:farmer: I tell you, we've become a bunch of wimps," oohh its gonna snow, better call in the army!" We used to be Canadians, scoff at winter, put on long undies, take a flask of whiskey, and snowshoe to the neighbours for a night of telling stories.
Well folks: stoke your stove and make sure Jack, Jim, or Johnny are within an arms reach. (i got a bottle of Jim myself. I been drinking stuff from the Isle of Islay but this winter I've been sampling from the confederate barrels.)

question: is it my flawed memory, or are winter storms uglier than they used to be? I remember snow as a kid with occasional freezing rain. Now its freezing rain or ice pellets with occasional snow. not to mention that highways are full of folks that think they're invincible.

I hope I have a pic of the pigeon hiding behind a branch. We'll see.
