Good Morning!

Post by baronrenfrew » Wed Sep 07, 2016 7:50 pm

I was rereading my post above and realized I missed something.

Kathy, I tip my hat to you for your strength and endurance. I get a cold and play dead for a week (an excuse for video games and movies and sitting home by the wood stove). So I send you good tidings and wish you godspeed on your travels, be they far or close. I know I have had my share of close calls, (and watched people die) all for people "driving stupid".

Godspeed, I love that word. Its a combo of "go safely" and "go quickly" back when people traveled by sail or by horse. And we need it in a world of people who text and drive or drive as if they're invincible.

P.s. Feel free to tell us about your day. We'll send you happy thoughts (or prayers).

Really good school. I never did rez but our son did-still is roomies in rental houses now, with who he shared tower with back in first year-fast and lasting friends.
Thanks shaded. I know she's loving it there. I was at UofG as well. Started in 81. Lots has changed there, but some things survive like the canon and the bullring(although it's a restaurant now).

Kathy, you should write a book. I could picture your morning so vividly, and made me thankful for the non-commuting day I have had.

Still have 5 hens, that I moved from the other farm, roosting in trees. Silly chickens. They think they're outsmarting me, but I think they'll be sorry once we get a big rain.

Felt bad about closing up coops tonight, but predators are starting to think about fattening themselves up for winter.

Our last hatch of ducklings are growing so fast. 10 little munchkins waddling about. Really happy with the greys in this batch and still waiting to see how the silver one will end up.

So hot and humid here tonight. Hope this heat breaks soon. Hope everyone has a great night.

One guinea already hatched for bvf here. And many pips!!! My day did get better (thankfully). I had a half decent spell in which i moved my truck closer to the building so walking after work wasnt as far. Good conference call. Without drilling! Actually had a lunch too-thats rare these days...usually look up and its 5pm or something dumb like that...drive home was behind every single 70km/hr putt putt sunday driver...out on wednesday lol
Putting together a therapy pool....kinda like the worlds biggest ikea puzzle. Lol. With better instructions though. Got the heavy stuff moved with friends tonight since i am useless for lifting anything. Nothing like on purposefully cutting the liner to put in the hydraulic lines. Eeep!!!

Ah guelph....my alma mater. 8 years. Also lived in a tower in south. Loved it. Nice and quiet. Basically lived at the vet college. Taught a lot of the prevet classes. Embryology and histology....physiology....case studies....first year histology too and pathology. Fun times. Bsc and phd from there. I do miss it-and i dont lol. One of the few that started underage there...while everything was still licensed. Yep cannon got painted again lol. The bullring was a nasty bar lol. We all went off campus when cowboys opened. Still have nightmares about getting lost while trying to find the physics department to write my quizzes lol good old macnaughton building.

Well done too much today. Cant wait to sleep. Wish this heat would break....i am soo ready for fall. Yeah baron-i think i am just stubborn and dont want to admit it...that i should be talking to my dr about medical leave. She is hinting...at least the last time i was in. Just not a bridge i am ready to cross yet.

Hope everyone has a great night. Off to check the incubator again....lol. i am so glad none of them are mine!!

Morning

Busy busy. Gotta get to things today, but a picture to share and remind folks of the West Niagara fair this weekend. There will be a LOT of chickens etc., to check out.
If you've entered your bird(s), good luck.

Hope to see many PTO'ers there.

We were setting up last night!! Phew, it was a hot one.

BVF i hope you are ready for TONS of guineas!!!! i think i counted 38 this morning....and they're still hatching. nothing on the turkeys (pips still but no poults). I went to set up the brooder outside and then ended up setting them up in the basement-moved the older chicks to the bottom pen, they're all needing less care now, and eat and drink just fine. guineas are in the upper pen so they're easy to get to, everyone has been "dunked" and 2 were actively running back and forth from the brooder plate to the waterer drinking, so hopefully that will be enough to entice all of them throughout the day. and food on the floor, already being pecked at, on paper towel so they don't eat any shavings. will check them in a bit and make sure they're still doing okay. amazing how fast they move already...LOL

was also hearing some peeping from the second hatch for another friend, chicken eggs, locked them down at the same time, i think they were set a day later (of course, the one set i didn't get into the chicken addicted hatch app LOL).

well, another stinky sweaty day....hopefully everyone can stay cool! horses were not impressed yesterday and drank a good 50 gallons of water, trying to stay cool. i sprayed them down, they didn't enjoy that either! but they liked the carrots. they're already sweaty this morning. and those horrid big black horse flies came back again with the heat. yuck. actually caught one on fly paper in the barn....just nasty, it was chewing the paper off trying to get out of the sticky stuff....

alright. call to the surgeon's office today....better go and do and remind them that i'm still here....the last results hadn't been forwarded to my GP yet, and i'm going to get all that paperwork for disability etc done by her-easier to see her than the surgeon.
hope everyone has a great day!
stay cool!

Good morning,
Foggy and sticky, by the time I finished chores I was damp right thru stuff sticking to me, gross
Nobody amused at staying in, but on the outside chance that something actually revives in the grass department, they will just have to suffer.
I have a sneaky suspicion the chickens are getting more of the garden harvest then we are, I feel so badly about the desert they have to live in.
Kathy many good thoughts are going your way, has got to count for something !
Have a safe one!
