Good Morning!
Morning everyone!
business first: we have a tie for first for the photo contest, and one is not an admin this month so we are going to do a vote off. We are just getting that set up now, should be available later today. Voting will go until Sunday Sept 4 at midnight and the winner announced first thing monday morning. You will be able to cast 1 vote for 1 of the 2 photos tied for first. That way we will have 1 first place for the year end contest. ;-P
what a gorgeous morning. The sunrise was beautiful pink across the entire sky! I cannot believe it is still dark at 6am now. Ah well, the year marches on. I do LOVE fall, I think it's one of my absolutely favourite times of the year. And a long weekend to boot this weekend! i had completely forgotten about that! WHOOHOO!
How are you feeling Ross? Hopefully not too sore anymore....hopefully nothing broken that you didn't find earlier....I do hope you feel better! And Dean, I hope your insurance guys get with the program...I'm so glad everyone is okay, horses too. You guys have worked so hard to build that place and your name in racing!
glad your dog chased them down WCG!!!! Good looking yotes actually. very healthy. Looks like good dogs are helping out all over this year!
cleaned the barn out this weekend and is it ever nice! smells like fresh pine. love it when it's all cleaned out. one of the roosters is presenting us with shavings when we do the chores LOL. The girls are finally growing in, i have 2 boys that have strips of pin feathers up and down their backs and no tails at all-they are totally embarrassed....but they're coming in, so hopefully all will be in good feather form for the winter. 30 fuzzybutts made it to the brooder, i should get some photos. i know, photos or it didn't happen. maybe tonight if i remember to take the camera down. they're in the basement under heat right now. always amazes me how fast they grow. doubled in size in 48 hours after hatch.
hope everyone has a wonderful day!

Good Morning!
Morning everyone.
You're right Kathy, a lot of close calls on here lately and now with the coyotes too. I hope that stays as a 'close call' and not a messy situation.
They definitely look big and healthy WCG and I'm glad you got your dog back on a recall.
I went out to Ivomectin all the birds this morning and Drake and Ava are barking up a tree. Literally. I look. Big FAT Racoon.
Ugh. Piss me off, not even a coffee in me yet at that point. 6:30am. Shotgun or crossbow. These aren't decisions I like to make on the best of days, never mind no coffee and at 6:30 in the flipping morning. Now I need to start a machine up later and add it to the critter grave yard.
I'm relieved that I can protect the flock, but boy Do I ever hate the task.
We had a lot of rain yesterday. Came down in buckets. The toads were out in full force during the day, that's how you know it's a good one. I could hear them last night which is nice. There's been an eerie silence around here in the evenings.
Long weekend. Not sure what I'm doing other than a bonfire with some friends. Oh i need to do some more firewood. Construction material inventory. And maybe get in some kayaking if I can get a cloudy day. I'm done with the sun. DONE.
I also need to cut the grass this weekend. Rain = growing grass lol.
Josh was in Emerg the other day for an eye injury while on the job. The same doctor who sewed up his face saw him again. She asked him if he would like to buy a membership haha. This boy of mine stresses me out!! He scratch his cornea in his eye (2nd time, but thankfully a few years apart) so he's got gooey eye drops and anitobitocs to put in his eye. I'm not sure how many lives Josh has, but I'm sure he's running on low.
Well, better get at it. Off to butcher today to fill up the freezer with chicken carcass/organs for the dogs. Ava is an eating machine!! I forgot how much pups can eat. And those little jaws are so powerful chomping through bones etc. She is coming along beautifully. i couldn't be happier. She has her puppy moments (destoeying planters) but all in all sooooo smarts incredibly loyal, needing to please and respectful already. Sits before doors open, understands to take food/balls nicely, doesn't chase the flock anymore (99% of the time), although she desperately wants to play with coon, only because coon has zero tolerance for Ava. All a work in progress but for 3 1/2 months old it's damn impressive!
Alright, have a great one !! Almost Friday.

Wow, that's just too scary for words, glad the dog made it back all right!WaupoosCowgirl wrote:QR_BBPOST Morning all, this is what I woke to this morning...dog chased them right out of our shop...ran them all the way to the woods. Thank goodness the dork came back unscathed, honestly thought he would be a goner. I started up the 4 wheeler to go get him. He was already back and I put him in the house and went outside to count ducks and chickens and the littles were back in the field behind the house again.

Good Morning!
Yes the dog has pretty good recall for a Dane! As much as I was yelling his name this morning I was also watching in amazement at how fast the boy can run. just over a year ago he took sick and had zero recordable reflexes from the neck down, I mean zero! he laid on the floor of the vets for 6 solid days and we brought him home and had to teach him to walk all over again he was so skinny and so very weak. They never ever found out what was wrong with him (after many many tests and $) every time we go to get him weighed the staff are amazed and say we can't believe you didn't put him down!

He certainly earned his keep this morning.
Your picture of the coyotes makes me think of African Safari , entirely too exotic for my taste.

Good Morning!
What an amazing recovery and what a great dog WPCG! Thats awesome! I wonder what we would do without our dogs. I lost 35 birds Monday night to a big fat coon. My dog Brena, a black lab found it and chased it right to me. when I told her to sit she did and I shot it.
Good Dogs all around! CHEERS WPCG and Sandy! WOOHOOO!
