2 minutes on the cob....then if i'm lazy i put them into ziplock bags and freeze on the cob. if i'm not then i cut it all off the cob and freeze in smaller ziplock bags.

What do you mean early for coyotes? Are they coming around soon? I'm out of the loop.

I had one cross in front of me up my road the other night at dusk. BIG.

yotes like to run at dusk and dawn. so afternoon is a bit early for them....lol. but, like your place, they could come anytime if they want.

well, another beautifully cool morning! love it! LOVE IT!
got 4 dozen corn to the freezer last night. thank you to my hubby for helping and the lab for cleaning the floor afterwards LOL. also got the jacobs cattle baking beans shelled...they didn't do great this year, too hot and too dry i think. some pods were packed, but some only had a couple beans, and some were empty. lots of little ones, and brown ones :-( sigh. next up is the black beans need to be harvested. maybe tonight. and the white bakers are drying in the barn right now, almost ready for shelling-maybe tonight if i get bored sitting at the bonfire.

corn worm is going nuts now. the guys we got the sweet corn from are getting ready to BTK their acreage....it's just nuts. probably 50% of the cobs had damage at the tips...it's always some bug or another every year....It was funny tho, i pull in and he's got the radio just blaring...i ask what's up. parents are away and he had the radio up to hide the swearing he said. LOL. he is apparently trying to halter train some new calves for 4H. he obviously had been dragged up the field at least twice judging by the dirt. he said it "wasn't going very well". LOL they halter break and then get kids into 4H, and they also show 4H themselves....nice to see him working with the critters though, he's just turned 17 and now trusted to hold down the fort while parents take a well deserved break.

saw some more shooting stars last night, little bonfire....comfy patio chairs. zero gravity patio recliners from canadian tire. i highly recommend them! very very nice. i think mine will move into the house for after my surgery LOL.

Early in the day for me in this pic at this time a year BUT may have seen a rain washed BIGFOOT print . I'll have tu keep an eye open luck

Sittin here outside having a coffee watchin bout 30 roaming chickens runnin round yard & 7 young Randy roosters chasin the hen/pullets around tryin to score . Must be fresh weather . Luck

Morning all
Well I forgot to close one window on the coop last night. Woke up and thought the young roosters sounded unusually loud. Go outside and most chickens come up to great me, looking for breakfast. Go check the coop, nothing lost but a few feathers and coon fur about 20 ft from coop.
Counted and not missing anyone, even youngsters. The largest teenage rooster, Eyelashes, has a few feathers missing. He did a great job. He's a keeper.
Glad the weather has cooled down, at least at night. Getting lots done preparing for winter but still have coops/runs to build.

Good stuff red ninja I've had roosters like that too . Notice I said had . Usually if they win the first battle , young coon , now educated or older shows up & bye rooster . Last one I lost was to a fox broad daylight . Luck

Huge score yesterday afternoon! Saw an ad for 18 Indian runner ducks for sale in Bowmanville- 5 minutes from where I work. I wasn't looking for runners, but a buddy of mine has a few so I passed the info onto him. He gets back to me saying thanks and what great quality these ducks are. Apparently from the bloodlines of a big breeder in the States, $100 each when they were imported etc.. So then I recall that a farm near Peterborough, called Apricot Valley, had been importing the last of Dave Holderreads "Elite grade" Indian runners. So now I'm wondering if maybe these birds are from Holderreads lines, via Apricot Valley? Contact the seller and drop by yesterday afternoon with Emily and after asking a few questions I find that this is exactly the situation! They bought the ducks a year and a half ago from AV and now want to focus on dual purpose birds, so are selling off these Holderread runners for $10 each! They have been free ranging and look great! Bought the drake and 4 ducks :)! They still have about 8-9 ducks. If anyone is interested, I can pass along the email info.
