Do you sing to your incubating eggs?
I have talked to my broody hen when she's setting on eggs or brooding chicks. She's pretty non-communicative when she's setting and a miserable old wench when she's brooding though, so the conversations don't last long.
Slightly off-topic question, sorry to highjack, but is it too late in the year to give a broody hen some eggs to hatch out?

Do you sing to your incubating eggs?
I'm kinda afraid to answer the question!
When the incubator is going, I "DO" talk to them.
I always hear the hen cluck to the unhatched eggs.
I figured it would be soothing to them once they hatched.
Can't say I noticed the day old chicks being swayed by my clucking.
But I do it anyway...hmmm thinking "crazy chicken lady" is a fitting name after all!!! (*o*)

Sometimes if there's an early (or an only) one or a late one trying to hatch, they will call out in distress. I make happy peep noises attthem and it seems to reassure them that they're not alone, and they quiet and get back to work pipping. Other than that, I don't talk or sing to the eggs : D

My thoughts are that the world has been through massive cooling and heating changes before and I don't see why something shouldn't be programmed into the genetic code to deal with that.
