GAG!!!

Racoon (female cat) has been sneezing and hacking/gagging. She got profender on Saturday so I was worried this was causing a problem. Finally got a hold of her this morning to take her to vet. She sneezed and this thing was poking out of her nose. I was horrified to take a closer look. I couldn't figure out what it was, so I brought her in and grabbed some tweezers.
Held her, held my breath, grabbed ahold and pulled. I can not tell you the fear of not knowing what I was about to yank out through her nose. When it kept coming and coming I couldn't even focus in on it to figure out what it was. I was so freaked out. She was gagging and fighting me, but poor kitty, I had to get the beast out of her.

So, here it is.

A piece of grass. Poor girl. Called vet, cancelled appointment. Will keep an eye on her just to make sure it is the culprit.

OMG Sandy that poor cat!! You need to tell her to chew her grass better next time.

Oh dear Jan that is nasty but thankfully you got it out, things like that can get tangled in the guts.

I once had to pull out a nylon hoody tie that my cat ate all that was hanging out of her mouth was 2" of a 3' long tie!!!

Been there with the string. Blech. Also done that with a dog that had eaten baler twine...it was seriously gross.

Okay sandy. How the heck did she get that up her nose??!! I will rank that right up there with losing the chipmunk too...not her brightest moment.

That was in her nose, down her throat and in her esophagus (how do you spell that?) for sure and it was covered in slim. She'has been dealing with this since Saturday just wouldn't let me get her. Now that she is grass free LOL, she had lots of raw chicken, organs and a raw egg to celebrate and I can handle her again and have cuddles.

She has lost many chipmunks since you've been here. We just laugh now but I'm sure the chipmunks laugh harder.

I once had a rabbit who discovered that if she grabbed a stray fray of carpet, she could yank it loose then chomp it down like she was eating spaghetti (cue clip from Lady & The Tramp). Oh what fun...until I had to ease the seemingly endless purple carpet wool out of her hiney.

Well, looks like with the high chance of anal rescues with pets I won't complain about nasal removal any ore.

I don't know about that. It sounds like Raccoon was quite distressed...my bunny seemed to be taking it in stride & looked at me more as if I was a perv than a rescuer.

She was a hot mess. But now coon is back to her tarty self. Rolling around for scratches and eating up a storm. Thank goodness!
