What a great job by Ava!!! Yes hubby keeps the shotgun in a not so convenient spot......for me!! LOL A good dog is priceless to have at any time but even more so when you have any type of critters or you live in the country. Our girl is the best, I swear she barks if a fly farts!!! LOLMaximus wrote:QR_BBPOST Nope, she didn't get a treat. I was in high speed mode. Keys here, keys there, load up. Definitely not convenient. Today I am prepared.
Hope no one shows up for tea hahah! Kitchen table is in use.

Good Morning!
Good morning,
Everything is green and the grass needs cutting.
Cherry tomatoes have split their skin, apparently you can have too much of a good thing.
There is water in the creek again and the frogs have reconstituted, judging by the giant croaking sound, was a bit curious and sort of wanted to see who was making that sound, but then just wimped out.
Looks like a perfect day coming to us today, have a good one!

Good Morning!
It rained last night, as we were taking cattle to VG meats near Simcoe. The sky looked stormy the whole way there and back... and the lady we took with us for a visit... well, it didn't rain at her place, and shes like 10 minutes away!
We are getting read to do sweetcorn. Don't know if theres much out there... with the dry... but I do know the coons have been in it for a week. We may not get much at all, divided between 5 families. Oh well, we will do what we can.
I've already spent the morning cleaning the kitchen (not the floor... it will be AWFUL with the corn), and got all my bowls/and cutters etc. The turkey fryer thing is set up... and muck buckets, that were really crappy, but washed and bleached them, and got a clean hose for filling with cold water, after the cobs are blanched. My old hose spews brownish crap. Old old hose.
Well.... I guess we are going to pick soon. Waiting for some of the 'kids' to arrive. My sciatica is hurting. Has been all week. NOT really looking forward to this day.

Good Morning!
Morning y'all
I keep forgetting to mention, Lou is going to be a 'Nonno' and Josh a Zio. Regardless of what happens with Lou and I, I will not be a Nonna or a grandma. I'm too young. LOL. I'm cool with 'Sandy' but I know first hand, the kids decide what to call you. Mike, Lou's oldest son (29) is having his first child with his partner. I think that officially makes Lou old.
I've just been informed that this is in Canada as well. Now my morning rant. I'm pissed!!! Epi Pens I hear have jumped from $125/ea to $500/ea. I am shocked!! This raised a lot of concern for me. There are a lot of folks that won't be able to afford proper coverage, and by coverage I mean epi pens in appropriate numbers, places and back ups. There are some folks that won't be able to afford any epi pens. period.
Here's our epi pen usage. Josh has 2. Always. We keep 1 at his school as back up. We keep one in the first aid box at our job site and one at the shop first aid box. We always have a spare at home for him. Then I have 2 a year. I with me, and one for back up. Mel has 2 a year. One with her and one for back up. That's 10 epi pens every 18 months (all they are good for). Normally a cost of $1,250
Now our cost will be $5,000
That is a substantial difference to our budget for a life saving device. I am beyond words for this astromincal increase. Really, what are we going to say, no? We're not buying any? I feel it's another manipulation, forced into the corner by a large corporation who has control over who lives and who doesn't. How is it The Epi Pen corporation gets to be a billion dollar industry and we have no say in how this is governed. This is not flavoured bubble gum, this is the difference between life and death.
Someone suggested that we search online for discounts etc. There are some things you want to buy from the drug store that is accountable and governed. Epi Pen is one of those things that I won't look for a discounted one.
Well, now that I'm right p*ssed I should go do something.
Have a good day, looks like a wet and rainy one this weekend.
Cheers,

Good Morning!
That is crazy and unwarranted. I was just corresponding with my cousin in the UK and over there they're told Canada has a fully funded health system. She had no idea we pay for prescriptions, physio etc.

Good Morning!
I just bought another epi pen, and it had gone considerably up in price. I always paid about $99, and this one was $150. Oh well. I guess it is what it is. I never carry mine. Ever. I should, because I had a reaction to the honey bee sting 3 years ago, that put me in the hospital.. eventually fighting to breathe by the time I got there. I have however, gone thru 3 years of 'bee stings', to become un-allergic. Hope thats sooner than later. Geez.
Corn yesterday was at first a bust. Grass higher than the corn. spotty growth in some. Non existent fertilization... but the bulk that WAS great.... was demolished by coons. After a short shouting match, about maybe using a sweet corn spray for grass.... and I told him earlier, that there was NO way I was electric fencing this corn, with the field corn completely abutted to it.... as well as neck high grass... well, fencing it would have been a waste of time anyhow. So... they ended up buying 20 dozen from their uncle (Gary's ex brother in law), and I pouted all day long on the lawnmower. Was so mad, I even loaded the thing onto the stock trailer, drove it to Galer Farm Equipment, and had them change the blades. Sure, I could have... but this was proving a point.. to someone who for 3 years I have been wanting the blades changed. They weren't even cutting the weeds yesterday. I told them to charge double the rate, just to make him pay, lol. Hope they did. Ended up Scott.. Melissa's husband who works there, did the work. He TOLD me to take it home and he would come do it there, but stubborn me would not. Brought it home, and cut the grass much faster, and was happy. Worth it.
So.. going to finish cutting today. Maybe pick more beans. I have too many in the freezer now, for just me. Still have a bag from last year. I probably will end up giving some to the kids, who won't come out and do for themselves. Probably should just give them to the chickens. Don't want to reward lazy behaviour.

Good Morning!
One of their competitors went broke. Twin jet I think? So now they have zero competition. Lou said this morning, how do they say to someone well, this is the new cost. I said, they don't need to say
and they know it.
