Hey we both harvested potatoes and cleaned out turkey pens! Great minds eh! Couldn't believe the size of some of my Yukon Golds.

My potatoes are small. I have left the remainder. So many little ones that would be wasted if I harvest the whole bin today. Hopefully they keep on growing and growing. I noticed some white/silver tiny quick bugs. Any ideas?

Mine are really small too Sandy, I think it was the lack of rain. I will not have many to winter over, not like last year and I planted the same amount. Regardless they sure are tasty!!!

I have another 2 bins plus the remainder of the half harvested. Hopefully they grow a bit bigger at least. I definitely won't have any to winter over. A few batches of homemade perogies and a few potato leek soups and they'll be gone, before the snow flies for sure.

Now I wished that I had grown the potatoes. I bought the seed... cut them... and most rotted... so gave up. At first, I was glad, because it was so so dry. But now, I won't have any potatoes. But, that said... they are fairly cheap, and I DID throw away a blue box full, because we just didn't eat them. Even one row would have been too many. Oh well.

Supposed to get lots of rain tomorrow. Can't believe it may be true!! Only 90% tho... we will see. We got about, or nearly an inch with the last rains that came thru on the weekend. The cracks in the ground are still there, lol. Amazing how the grass has greened up since that rain!! Now I will have to cut grass again. Actually did some yesterday, and forgot to do around this 'forgotten' garden beside the house. Lots of different BAD grasses in there. WHAT I want to do, is kill it all off... rototill it nice and smooth, and plant grass seed. I had potatoes in there a few years ago, and its very wavy/rumply. I want to set up my dryer 'bin', and make a nice firepit spot there. Stuff outside is WET from heavy heavy dew right now.

I have a bee sting appointment this morning, and Melissa wants to go to babies r us in Brantford. Not sure why. Shes having a massive family baby shower on Sept 11th (also her b-day), and shouldn't be buying anything. She IS registered at that store.

There are still straw round bales to pick up. Grand-son Nolan is here, hes 10... so will hang with grandpa. Hopefully get them inside before they get more rain. First, an animal to the butcher for custom.

Well, I guess I'd better get doing something. Got up way early, and can't leave for my appointment until after 9am. They don't open until 9:15am. Ugh. Although I've been to the barn already.

FRF - With homemade buttermilk biscuits. Soooo yum!! Can't wait for soup and biscuit season. Yum!!

Well another crazy week waiting for me to get off my butt and get going. Josh is off to work this morning. A few powerhouse smoothies and homemade chicken bone broth in him yesterday and he's on the mend.

A lot of rain in the forecast for tomorrow and potentially some today as well. That's a good thing. If the weather holds true for the following week it will be such a welcome change. Low 20's during the day and teens at night. Ooooooooo closer to winter. I can feel it.

I need to go and get some seeds to sow for fall lettuce and spinach.

Finally did a tsc run on Saturday morning. Got a smoker for the hives. They are sooooo grouchy these days, but with the weather dropping next week I might hold off on hive inspection until it's cooler just to avoid the smoker. Got a queen separator, picked up super layers from my bee guy, but won't out those on until I see they are ready for it. I also got some formic acid and pads to put in next week from my bee guy. Interesting concept. Not sure how I feel about this. Can kill off queen etc. Maybe I'll pop over to the beekeeping thread and get some feed back.

Anyways, gotta get going.

Hope y'all have a great day!

Morning everyone.

Last I checked I heard formation of funnel clouds near London. Hope everyone is safe and keeping an eye on the weather alerts/warnings etc.
It's nice to see some rain. My chcikens aren't as thrills and the ducks don't care haha.

Bathed Ava last night. She loves water so not a big challenge. The trails we go on for walks/exploring as so dusty because of lack of rain, she's so close to the ground it's like desert storm around here. She gets home and I fluff her and the dust that comes flying off is humourous, until the house feels like a volleyball court. She wants to drink the entire bath water, before bed time. That was my biggest challenge haha! Keeping her mouth above water.

Interesting event last night. Before bath time, approx 6:45 Ava and I went to sit on the front porch area for a few minutes. She likes to just sit and watch. 6:45 - dusk/cloudy, hard to see much in the bush with clarity. Ava's nose up high, she is concentrated on a scent. Ears get pinned down. She growls a pup growl. Then I'm like wait a minute... Stand up and look around. I can't see anything and shush her. She is still smelling up a storm. Nose high in the air. I go to the back of the house (which is actually towards the road) which is all trees and she is now barking at me. I'm wondering what the heck I'm missing. Well, I'm missing a coyote about 15' in front of me staring, head way down and fur up. Well holy poop. Grab Ava and put her in house, yell at Josh to make noise in backyard (to keep yote away from flock) get shot gun. Stalk my backyard and bush line looking for yote. Nothing. DAMMIT!!

This girl, right here. THIS IS WHAT I'M TALKING ABOUT. I'm so impressed with her right now I swear she is gold plated.

Rain has stopped. Hope that isn't it for the day. Says significant rainfall. I'm waiting for significant. Down to 18 tonight. Nice change, hopefully the humidity leaves.

Well, lots to do. Hope everyone has a safe day, enjoy the much needed rain. I'm taking advantage of this rain and getting paperwork done.

Cheers!!
