Good Morning!

Good morning,
On today's doggy walk spotted....
Muskrats apparently building a moat

Turkey having a drink out of whats left of the creek

two miffed herons after they buzzed me, and no it didn't rain out of that cloud either, its back to sunny and humid
Blue Heron & cloud.jpg
I sleep with windows open year around, but broke down last night, left everything closed, turned the de-humidifier on and turned on the furnace fan to circulate cool air from the basement, turned out pretty pleasant or at least better then outside anyway.

Yup I agree Ross. Shame. I know we can transport etc., and I also agree that the mentality is perhaps reckless and is likely an enormous contributor that needs an adjustment. Changes are required.
Trust is broken between the two 'sides' which I believe is the most dangerous aspect of civilian and law enforcements relationship. Also, entitlement is out of balance.
But with every 'mishandled' situation, I read an successful one. Complex.
We have tighter regs. and perhaps that is a contributing factor to the lesser of lives lost on this side of the border. Not sure.
I can't go there, likely too political for the health of the forum.

One thing I will say is that we don't have tighter regs all around. Regs vary widely state to state and some have much more stringent regs than here (Mass for eg.) We were warned about this when we did competitions in the US. we were also told when we got our restricted that if a cop stopped us in the US put your hands up on the steering wheel in plain sight because they had access to that info.

It was mentioned to me that when I cross the border now into the US I could be subjected to further questions/inspections because they have access to my licensing. Not sure on the validity of that, but when I cross later this month I'll have a good indication.

Morning everyone!

there once was a theft of a truck that looked just like the one i owed a while ago. i got pulled over on my way into work, and the police approached me, and asked for my license and registration....when i moved to reach for them i was actually shocked at how jumpy and on guard the officer was, i just froze and said "i am going to get them out of my back pocket"....i have no doubt if i had just reached and pulled that i would have been staring a firearm in the barrel....they have a very awful stressful job, anyone could pull out a gun, how do they know? and if they are hypervigilant...well. i know how easy it is to squeeze off more than one shot under a stressful situation - that was nowhere near as stressful as a potential armed suspect. but this is so out of hand on BOTH sides...it could happen anywhere. not just in the USA. i think the best thing that could happen is that the media stops reporting all this and supercharging the situation so that it stays spiralling out of control. the more publicity the more hate and rage and the more people are afraid of police and the more fearful an officer will be because of the hate, and the entire thing is being fuelled by the media giving so much publicity to every single thing....not saying that it's right what is happening/happened, just saying people gotta get away from it to solve it, otherwise it's going to keep festering and get WORSE, not better, because everyone is hypervigilant.

Hay might be coming today! whoohoo! no rain horse hay. i think we got maaaayyyyybbbbbbeeee 2mm last night. story of my life, raining to the south, raining to the north and blue sky over me. go figure.
left the water sprinkler going even when the sprinkles were coming from the sky. LOL.
Dog is feeling better too, definitely ate something he shouldn't have. apparently the pile appeared this morning and he's back to his normal self eating and drinking and jumping and running again. phew. animals.
have some chickens and turkeys going tonight, and again tomorrow....then that should be almost it until the youngsters are big enough to take to auction or give the boys away or maybe keep another 10 weeks and process.
well, onwards to another day! hope everyone has a great one, a ross, i sure hope your rain dance works!!!! but after my hay is delivered and off the truck!

I've been a licenced restricted owner since 1990ish, and in that time I have crossed the US border numerous times and been pulled over by police for several reasons a half dozen times. I have never been asked about any potential firearms I may have with me or felt like the Officers or Border Guards were nervous in dealing with me. Statically in Canada, licenced firearms owners are much less likely to face any sort of criminal charges than the general public. Last time I checked it was about 1.8% of licenced firearms owners face any kind of criminal charge annually, where the general population is about 6%.

I believe the difference between us n them is they are scared and we are not. we dont have any reason to be scared at all. (maybe we should be.) their first amendment, to be able to own n carry a fire arm is to keep their government under control... I dont think its working. of course thats just my opinion and not ment to offend anyone. I cant come up with a solution other than retraining the entire police force to not shoot to kill. I mean they dont go to the gun range and practice arm or leg shots...

so lots of building black clouds this am so I put out the washing before I went to town thinking that should do it! Nop. My second lot is out now so we wait. I was once asked if I had my handguns with me when I crossed the border to the US. Very polite chap. I replied we didn't and that was that! When we crossed for competitions with our firearms I always carried a folder ready to hand over with ATT permits, programme of shoot etc and was never met with anything but politeness which is more that I can say for crossing back - some border guards were downright nasty.

OK so 2nd wash is dry so that didn't work. Clouds dissipated. We watched showers east of us but no rain here.
