Good Morning!
Holy moly guys! I get swamped at work for 2 days and look what happens!!! The forum changes are awesome! Sandy gets her pal congrats sandy!! Fuzzybutts everywhere hatching out and ducklings end up with a bigger pool. I feel like its been weeks!! Lol
I am sooo glad its the weekend. I love the new buttons on the top! We talked about it last weekend...but havent had time since to even think about it. That must have been the question last night about what colour should this be on the forum. We opted for PTO green. Lol
Looking forward to finishing cleaning out the driveshed. I have some fence to run to keep the horses out of there first. Vet today for our old lab. I cant watch him try to stand up like i do so we are getting some arthritis stuff for him today. Then maybe some paint for the patio furniture. And of course the ever present weeding is waiting.
Our corn is all pineappling. We better get some rain soon. If we dont the farms around here are going to be in trouble soon. The beans arent sprouting either. Too dry. Fields are really sparse. Sigh. The hay looks good though...needs water to grow second cut though!!
Hope everyone has a wonderful weekend!!!

Good Morning!
This morning went down to see how all my girls were doing and my 3 year old hen (who has never tried motherhood before) was off her nest. Another hen on and found her eggs broken!
Of course the few that are left are not fertile
So I'm looking to buy 2 day old whatever's for her
If anyone can spare 2 whatever's please let me know
She has been sitting for 10 days now. So I think I can keep her on the nest for a while yet if the other hen has not messed things up
Some peoples chickens!!!!
Thanks

Good Morning!
Good morning,
Another hot one coming our way, the deer are completely ignoring the motion scarecrows and me throwing shoes and are eating the gardens bare, the dog now wags his tail when he sees them, I think he things they are funny dogs
Wild strawberries come and gone, not enough water for them to amount to anything.
Have been busy giving birth to couple doz chicks here, right after I check their parentage, I will throw all my books on genetics in the garbage
Glad I only had one breed in the incubator.
BBQ lunch for son, who is coming over to introduce his father to his new laptop, which he got him for Fathers day, since I absolutely refused to have any part in that tutorial, have seen many marriages fail that way.
Have a slow and cool one!

Good Morning!
Had a good time at Poultry fest with my 4-H kids yesterday. It was my first time going. Pretty amazing for a FREE event. Big thanks to those who put it on. I should go spend sometime playing in the dust that is supposed to be my garden. I really don't know what we are gonna eat this winter if it doesn't rain soon. Our well is suffering what with everyone around us irrigating the tobacco. As long as there is enough water for the critters everyday I guess we'll be ok. Have a good day everyone.

Good Morning!
#2 has 3 lovely babies this am. I gave the egg that was behind to the other broody turkey who is hatching ATM. One of the babies yesterday got steamrollered when another hen tried to get in with her or she would have had 4. All a learning curve on management. Banded the 6 week old poults today. Mother less than impressed. Hope I don't see anyone much because I have a lovely wing welt across my face and neck from her- good girl though! Going to take a look at the Kingston show later - yes they're letting me out for a while! Have a good day all.
I hear you on the water. We're supposed to get some tomorrow.

Good Morning!
Happy sunday to all...nice cool night to sleep, windows open..got up, put the coffee on, fed the dogs, tended the chickens, came in realized how nice and cool it was and then remembered to close all the windows before the Sahara winds came thru....been watering a quadrant of the garden per day so as not to stress the well too much although i really don't know what it can take, best not to find out...was over to the feed mill, got to talking to Rob there and I mentioned looking at TSC for some welded fence wire to pen the yard for the chickens..he said TSC was the best advertising he's ever had...i got a roll of 14ga 60" corncrib (2x4) fencing x 100' for $113 plus tax...I thought it was a great price..they beat TSC on everything, and even often on the sale stuff...gotta love shopping local...the brooder is full..11 six week olds need to get outside so setting up the temp pen is on todays to do list...they soooo love getting transferred, NOT!!!...maybe, i'll get some good outdoor well lit pics to share...grass needs cutting back at the lake...cottage is getting rented in July so there's tuneups to do there...always something...waffles for breakfast then out and at it...enjoy your day folks

Good Morning!
Morning y'all
Phew, was a hot one yesterday, but going to be even warmer today. Got the main coop cleaned out, vacuumed spotless and new flax bedding put back in, nesting boxes all re-done. Now that was a toasty chore!! Added another layer to my potato bins, flipped the compost pile and got some gardening done. Salmon and salad for dinner and the couch sleeping for dessert. The heat sucks the life out of me.
More gardening today, and need to cut the grass. Got some firewood that Lou got cut for us, to split with JT today as well. So much to do all the time. I really could use a day off, but don't see that happening at any point in my near future and I know everyone on here understands that.
No time for kayaking this weekend. I really need to find the time to do some things that I love to do. I haven't even really been ATV'ing much lately either, other than purposely disturbing the peace out back. Long weekend next weekend so I'm hoping to justify one day to do either some ATV'ing or kayaking.
My ducklings are growing soooo fast, but yet still so little. They might be addicted to kale and peas already. You know you love them when you have a dream that you took them swimming at the lake last night and it was oodles of fun. the litter box they are swimming in allows them to swim under the water and scoot around and swish. It's so fun to watch them love water the way they do. Ok. Enough about ducks.
Glad you had a great time at the Poultryfest with 4H Wendy! It really is an impressive event for free.
Well, I'm off to be uncomfortably hot. Stay cool and have a great one!
