Good Morning!
Good evening all!
Too busy today. I am totally done. Fuzzybutts are rebanded and those that i want to keep have no bands. Rhodebars and gold and silver welbars are looking really great as they feather out!! I am really quite excited for them.
Theyre out of the brooder and the brooder is cleaned and put away and fuzzies are in the outside growout coop now. Put my hubbys turkey girlfriend in with the turkeys downstairs...she fit right in! I need to move a couple of welbars and cornish on the weekend. Treated a bad bumblefoot case 2 days ago on one of my rhodebar breeders and took off her bandage today and she is right as rain again. They heal so fast! Always nice to see them get better after you help them. Busy day coming up tomorrow too so i think its time for a wee bonfire. Looks like i might get a bmw x5 suv to drive tomorrow!! Friend of mine is moving and needs a pickup truck....so....we may switch vehicles for a couple days. It will be the one and only time i get to drive a bmw probably so....if you never hear from me or hubby again we are on a road trip lol
Absolutely gorgeous sunset out there tonight....i do hope we get rain soon...but i sure cant complain about the sunsets and star views lately!!
Have a great night everyone.

Good Morning!
So my tart cherry trees are absolutely loaded with fruit. When we bought these we thought they were just decorative but no, they have the most delicious fruit. They fruited 2 years ago. So I was thinking of putting up a poll as to when the cedar waxwings arrive to strip them, any guesses LOL!

Good Morning!
Is the fruit ripe already? We already have the mulberry tree loaded with cedar waxwings eating the fruit.

Good Morning!
Not yet. The birds always seem to judge it though. It hasn't filled out much yet due to lack of rain.

Good Morning!
Both my mulberry trees are loaded this year. Now if I can get the pullets to stay out of the one by the deck so they ripen up that would be a great thing.
Cherry season. LOVE cherries. Heck, I love each fruit as it comes into season. Wish we could grow bananas too. I LOVE bananas. Mmmmmm fruit.
Busy day today. Hope everyone has a great day and weekend.
Cheers!

Good Morning!
Sandy... Guess what... you can grow bananas here. Green Barn Farm in Montreal has bananas growing. You plant the stalk in the spring, pull it out in the fall, plant it again next spring and you'll get fruit every 2nd year.
I got to start a new blog: How To Raise Skinny chickens. Last year was a disaster with coccidiosis leading to stunted growth and very late maturing skinny birds. This year the young Partridge Chanteclers I have are destined to be skinny again! I just got them- age of ten weeks- from Dave. I hatched them out, he brooded them (thankfully through my busy spring) and I got them back. They were slow feathering (i think the whole lot will go in the freezer as this is not a trait I want) and were picking each others feathers. One died, the rest are now feathered in (except for a few tails) but the normal pecking of the "pecking order" is magnified as they are deathly afraid of being pecked. So instead of eating and growing they are always running away from each other; therefore burning energy.
Sheesh!

Good Morning!
I figured this out last night as I have opened the door to let them outside (the door has been open since Monday as I have been home and can supervise) and they have yet to step outside unless pushed. Dave has them inside only (and with a beauty set up of pens) and i believe boredom was a contributing factor. Here, the cat sat outside the door waiting for mice, and our 1/2 size gosling has stuck his head in checking them out. So last night I went in with a chair and pushed them out, some did for a few mins but ran back in when I let them. I also identified a few cockerals that appear to be bullies.
So I have some "no pick peepers" that I can put on them (the old type with pins). That will stop the picking and might fix the problem.

Good Morning!
DON'T YOU HATE THAT?????????? Nothing frosts me more than the damn hydro going out, when theres nothing going on with the weather. Must be updating... and they really don't warn you anymore, or some moron hit a pole. Or some idiot animal.. likely a coon bit a wire. Last time that happened.. hubby was baling hay at some farm about 5 miles away. I had to go find him.kenya wrote:QR_BBPOST Ugggggg The hydro's out! Good Morning!
Well, its a gloriously hot/warm DRY day again. Geez.. wish it would rain some!!!!!!!!!!! Crops are going to start suffering soon. Corn is thinking about pineappling and the beans look thin.
looked under a broody chicken, and shes got some keets under her. 5 I think. One egg still unhatched. They were fairly new/wet... so hoping on the last egg.
And got the 7 upstairs. I will have keets for sale. Any takers?? I already have 2 of those sold. Someone wants 2, lol. They all look royal purple and pearl to me. Ones upstairs.. same.
In here waiting on the FCC guy to arrive. He was supposed to take our operating loan, which is max'd out, and halve it, and set up a new loan, seeing as how the other one is done. Keep the payments the same, and get it paid down. We owe so much money to County-Ag for crop inputs. He was supposed to set up something with them/FCC to pay them... and when the crop comes off (if there is one) in the fall... pay it off then. Thank goodness we don't have all our commodities all in one basket. We have had a great crop of hay... and sell some of that. We also have 41 slaughter cattle nearing ready... and 45 breeding cows/most with calves. 9 to go. So.. if crops fizzle... we will have that bit of income anyhow.
Got the kitchen cleaned anyhow. Gary is out baling somewhere for someone else.
Friday!! Nearing the end of school bus season. Today, Monday and Tuesday. Then done. Usually no one at nights on Monday/Tuesday.
Well, I have been watering the squash... they look OK... but going to wait until tonight. Stress them abit.. make them go deeper for water, even tho the grounds dust. At least it won't evaporate at night.
Have a great weekend!!
