I cant complain about the rain, others can AHAHAHAHAHA! it started raining around 11pm sat but not very heavy at all but it did get a bit harder as the night went on. one tent wasnt assembled very well, they (6 guys) woke up in 2" of water HAHAHA. Apparently the fly was half off. I woke up around 7:30 to them trying to get the fire going, I hear, go get the birch bark out of the canoe or something like that. I look over at my perfectly dry stack of flyers in a ziplock inside my dry tent. I LOL opened my tent just far enough to throw them my "birch bark," they threw it back and said, where were u 2 hours ago when we started trying to get it going. I LOL real hard when they told me about their tent. HAHAHA.

My cousin Nick set up this elaborate tarp up above their entire camp site. looked great. when he went to bed he took the fly off because he was hot. LOL around 5am the tarp let go and poured all the collected water all over them and their stuff. I LOL real hard about that one. HAHAHAHA.

I woke up perfectly dry, in my own tent with a great nights sleep despite sleeping on the ground. the rain stopped around noon when we finally had cleaned up camp n hit the water. it was cool and the wind was on our backs. had another great day on the water and didnt break a sweat. perfect. only thing that could have made it better was if I had caught a darn fish. LOL

Lol Ross! Rob is a heck of a partner, he can hold us or pull us up river while i fight a fish (or get snagged). the fire could have been better, but worked out well.

Looks like a great time Al!!

Rain and thunderstorms last night. A lot of rain actually. Means putting off grass cutting that was going to happen this morning. Will have to wait till tomorrow :)

Just beautiful weather. I feel like I could accomplish the my list and others as well when it's nice a crisp with a cool breeze. Unfortunately, I have a MASSIVE headache from the dentist yesterday. So much self induced tension and I think an overload on freezing. Appointment was 11:15 In the morning and at 8:30 last night the freezing in the roof of my mouth finally started to tingle and begin the un-numbing process. My cheek was fine a few hours later but the roof of my mouth was quite the long drawn out process. Anyways, back again in 2 weeks to finish up. FUN TIMES!

My silkie is sitting on her one egg since yesterday. She won't be fertile so today and tomorrow I will put eggs from the big layers coop under her and she how serious she is.
Time to start moving the teenagers to the big coop. They have been exploring it each day, walking in and checking things out. So no time like the present to swap them in.

If I get ducklings will a broody silkie mom take them on?

Hope y'all have a good day! Chew a BBQ steak for me! My mouth is too sore.

Good morning! Its still morning. I went to the barn early, checked everyone, found a new calf, which was trying to bee bop while mama was having a rest, lol. Love it when they are spunky. That makes 27 so far. 14 left to go... update. 13 more. Gary just texted me a picture of another new one, just now. Out of a 18 year old cow. Shes a good one. She goes back to a cow I got when I was 17.. a grade holstien for doing his chores for two weeks. She was bred limo.... and had twins. One of those twins, named Louise had this girl. I'll hate to see her go. If its a heifer, maybe I better keep her.

We got more rain last evening. I was cutting the grass and saw it coming. I got in the shed with the mower in time, but got wet trying to close the hen door again. Wind, strong from the west, and I have to lean over to unhook their door, theres no step but the lip of that doorway, and although it wasn't as bad as shutting it the other day, it was a challenge. The ground is about 5 feet down, if you took away all the manure I have shovelled out that door. As is is.. theres about a 2 ft drop. The hens use my walkway I had Dave build me.
All the shavings in that pen, are all to one end. The other day, the door whipped shut so fast, I could NOT hold it. My foot was down ON that lip, and it pinned me there. I could NOT for the life of me, push open the door enough to get free. And, the rain was driving in from the top. I was totally soaked by then, and my phone in my pocket got wet, but it didn't wreck it, thank goodness. I did get a phone ruined by getting drenched in a torrential once. Finally, I got free when the wind abated abit. Then stood inside, until I could figure out how to keep my phone drier on me, no bags or anything in the barn you know. When you want one.

Yesterday morning, while I was weed whacking, a movie scout came in. She was kind of pushy... wanting to see the inside of the house. They need a house built between 1840 and 1849. Ours is 1846. Some plantation movie. I argued with her, about how much of a hell hole it is inside, but she wanted to see it. IF she had of told me the other information first, she wouldn't have even stepped inside the door. When I showed her my back room, she just said.. 'ya', and went outside, lol. Everything is where I leave it on any given day, this time of year. I do clean once in awhile, like this morning. I totally cleaned the kitchen... and even washed the floor. The Farm Credit guy is coming at 1pm. lol.

Anyhow, she told me that we would have to VACATE the property for 3 weeks to a month. I told her it wasn't possible. She told me that they put us up in a very nice hotel... its like a mini vacation. And, while I told her I would need 2 million dollars to make me even consider vacating.... she told me it wasn't that much, but I would be surprized... it would be VERY worth my while.

I told her we farm for a living. We have over 100 head of cattle, not to mention the birds of mine... horses, cats, indoor and out dog.....as well as an elderly mother on the farm in one of the houses. We would be running tractors every day. Both feeding as well as we are well into haying. She more or less shrugged us off, like it was our loss.

Who cares. Everything would have to be removed from the house. Ha ha. No amount of money is worth THAT hassle.

pretty neat tho! i can't say anyone would ever come to my place to scout for a movie! LOL.
if it's 2million you could hire movers....then hire someone to sort through everything and put it back. and have someone cook for you! but yeah, the cows and birds need looking after. apparently you can just leave the gate open and the horses would look after themselves. LOL. that would make it very "rustic" wouldn't it? with rusty standing on the lawn eating? LOL

If you want a heart stopping moment. You know you shut the turkeys away last night just know it. Look out of window at 5am and see a white turkey shape at the end of the "garden" Oh no!!!! Look again and remember you planted white iris there and they have come up and bloomed with one higher that looks like a turkey head. Hubby did the same thing LOL!

What a lovely day to get stuff done. I got three batches of muffins, 2 batches of cookies and a batch of jam made. It feels good to be stocked back up :) Dear Daughter and her roommate showed up just in time to eat. I hope you all are enjoying this nice cool weather.

figured my sper-grass was finished but then went out last night after the rain and WOW! we have LOTS of it-must be liking the rain!! so i picked another whole pile to cook for dinner tonight. hands down, my favorite spring vegetable before strawberries (which i guess are a fruit aren't they?). hubby picked up some proscuitto at the store yesterday....so "ham" wrapped asparagus spears with dinner tonight.

Thank heavens for that wonderful rain yesterday. We had some Saturday night but this one soaked in. Have most of my veggie garden planted with cut flowers for my son's wedding in 3 weeks. Plus about 17 planters. Was getting tired of carrying out watering cans full of water.
Now I just hope they flower in time.......... :hide:
