Good Morning!
Good Morning,
It's looking like another beautiful day. We got some much needed rain last nite. I had moved a bunch of 3 and 4 week old birds out into chicken tractors this week so they could start being real chickens and eating grass and bugs. I woke up in a panic at about 12:30 am worried about the little guys in the storm. I ran out in my jammies to check on everyone. They were all high and dry inside their little houses, I on the other hand was soaked through like a drown rat. Wonder what my birds think when a crazy old lady in a nightgown comes out in the pouring rain shining a flashlight at them in the middle of the nite :) Have a great day everyone.

Oh I think we all do that! Glad they're OK. We're desperate for rain here.

and isn't that the truth, the only one silly enough to be out there is the poultry keeper, the poultry seems to have more sense

No rain here and I need to overseed one of the runs, not much point trowing grass seed in to a layer of dust

Good Morning!
Evening all, had a busy day...the 32 chicks in the kitchen have gone outside and taken residence in the little barn coop...much to the dismay of the 3 barnvelder hens... they keep walking back and forth in front of the closed door wanting to go in and lay....lol! My daughter and I dehorned all the calves from 1-3 weeks.... 15 of them.... and they will go out to pasture this weekend. Love watching those new ones jump off the trailer and have open meadow to run in for the first time....and of course they run and mommas run bellering after them, heehee! Four of the grands have gone to my son's house for a sleepover with their cousins, we only have the 18 month old and he is up in bed....hence a few stolen hours on the computer....yeah me!! Had a good inch of rain today ...we have about 40 acres of triticale cut, will have it round baled and wrapped this weekend too. Then to start first cutting hay....joy,joy.
Have a question for the group.... found a chick from the last batch, 4 weeks old looking peaked....caught it and found it had a rectal prolapse the size of a dime....any ideas on what caused? it did seem to have loose
around its butt, other 3 of that batch look ok.

Good Morning!! Getting some much needed rain here
Gardening has been a bit dry and dusty lately. Have my potatoes, carrots and beets in.
Chicks are hatching in the incubator, 2 out so far and see another 3 pipped. Have to work today so no going down every 1/2 hour looking to see what's hatching  Oh well hopefully some nice surprises will have hatched by the time I get home
Have a good day folks!

Good Morning!
Good luck with your hatch Paula
Hopefully a lot of little surprises when you get home. Lol. I'm sorta like a little kid on Christmas morning EVERY morning at hatch time! Can't wake up soon enough and run down to incubator to check
