Good Morning!

Good morning!
Finally set some eggs after waiting very patiently for the Wyandotte fertility to go up :xfingers: with few extras, started both incubators side by side, it's no wonder we are all driven crazy with the temperature/humidity setting, both set up the same, but temperature measured inside, completely different. every year I promise to myself I will not fiddle with the setting, but seriously, how can you not?
Great morning to clean out and mulch the Hosta garden.
So Tom how many babies????

Good morning everyone!
Suns shining! Hope we get some rain today-its so dry on the sand! Planting like crazy around here...tractors going well into the night now. Guess its spring.
All my lettuce and broccoli and brussel sprouts seeds got eaten by something in the greehouse so i had to replant. Theyre in the house till they sprout anyways-will move them back out after theyre bigger. I think we have a coon hanging out. Only getting 2 eggs from 13 layers and the one nest in the run in has been torn apart....hmmmm. dlivered the first of 3 custom hatches last night. 7 happy little black copper marans chicks. Ducks to lock down tomorrow and again next friday for the same fellow. Never hatched ducks before..and ducklings are insanely cute lol. Oh...anyone know anybody with rheas? The fellow i am hatching for - his wife is doing egg carving and is looking for a source of rhea and/or ostrich eggs. Let me know i can pass the info to them!
Candled eggs under my red palm last night. 2 completely rotten and stinky. Yuck!! 2 dead. And another 2 that were completely dark...if nothing happens by saturday i will try to give her a couple of poults from an earlier hatch...candled the ones under the bronze girl too-10 good. But cant be more than 10 days!! So...she will be sitting a while yet. Hope everyone has a great day!!

Good morning,
they are falling like dominos !!!! yesterday heard an enthusiastic call from an Ameraucana hen to her chicks, which she doesn't have~~~~ thought Oh Oh, sure enough by last night firmly stuck in the nesting box, so out with her in to the dog kennel, this morning another two are clucking, seriously, need eggs not chicks !!!!!
More work in the garden, dusty like heck, not really enjoyable, Meschlun out nice to see the green bits in there popping up.
Have a safe one!

Interesting ... another myth busted: I was lead to believe that Ameraucana hens were not particularly inclined to go broody. In your experience, OC, at what age do they typically go broody for the first time?

This one is obviously making a habit of it,:) went broody first time at 11month of age 2 years ago and I let her have a clutch, although had some serious doubts both on age and breed, but Kenya recommended to go ahead, and she turned out to be supper mom.
she is obviously hearing her biological clock ticking, but unfortunately I have no time or space to let her have her way. :)
