Good Morning!
Yes, sometimes Jennies don't know what to do with poults either (not in your case). I had a new Mum last year lead around her 3 babies and I assumed she was like a broody chicken. She just dragged them around until they died. I felt so bad not realising what was going on. My other 2 were great Mums.

Good Morning!
I will be watching her closely the next few days and if the poult isnt eating soon i will put it in the brooder with the others....i am hoping she will be a good mom. She certainly has sat religiously...it would be so much easier if she is...lol

Good Morning!
Suns shining, snow is gone, have the day off, it is a GOOD morning!!
Going to visit a friend in Port Rowan today, good day to have lunch by the lake.
On a sad note had to cull two of my EO chicks, one was walking on it elbows since hatch and then one started with one leg doing it but then was also tucking it's head under it's self so I think there was a neuro issue going on

Good Morning!
Not a nice thing to have to do Paula
I had one the same way walking on elbows
Had to do away with it. So sad and hard to do when they are so little
But in the mean chicken world it would never make it

Good Morning!
That's a great sign WaupoosCowgirl!
aw sorry FRF, and colleen....not fun
I have one turkey that looked splay, but this morning is elbow walking, just hatched yesterday, so waiting until tonight to see.....one more hatched in the hatcher, just drying off, and more are still pipping! well, i guess today really is hatching day 28, but i'm used to them being a little early. this is the batch where i had to clean the incubator because of a broken egg at day 18 so maybe that put them back a few hours.?....broody mom in the barn is still sitting...if she isn't up and about with the kids tonight i'll scoop out the kids and show them the food and water, and hopefully they'll figure it out. and i'll try to check each egg too...see if anything else will potentially hatch. if not, they'll all go...i need to give a nest box to the red palms tonight too...on the lookout for a nice sized cardboard box or something.
all i can say is that i LOVE the sportsman incubator and hatcher. i should have skipped all the other incubators and just got these in the first place.
well, sun is shining, looks like a nice day outside, and the rest of the week is looking VERY respectable!!!! i may be able to actually move some things into the unheated greenhouse!

Good Morning!
Sorry about those chicks. I hate it when I have to do that.
On a better note I have taken the saddles off the final 2 pullets that were injured by the dog. The feathering has come in nicely over the healed wounds so we'll keep our fingers crossed!
