I think you should make a little book with pictures of how he spends his time - A day in the life of Happy the House Chicken, or the Adventures of Happy the House Chicken. Kids and adults would get a kick out of the pictures and stories.

Lol good idea! God knows I take enough pictures of him. I swear he actually poses now.Shnookie wrote:QR_BBPOST I think you should make a little book with pictures of how he spends his time - A day in the life of Happy the House Chicken, or the Adventures of Happy the House Chicken. I've found that most people think it's cruel of us to have him in the house...They don't actually verbalize that but you can tell from comments. That or they just think we're nuts for having "livestock" inside lol. Can't say i blame anyone for that because I would have felt the same way. Then they visit and see how he interacts with us and the other pets and how involved he is in everything that goes on and they're pretty shocked. He helped me decorate the tree today. Now he's obsessed with it and won't stop staring lol.

OMG, again adorable!! I just can't get over that huge comb for his tiny head!! No one should judge you for having a house chicken, I think lizards and snakes are gross but some people have them as house pet, as long as they are cared for properly who's to say anything!!

Just out of curiosity is this Happy's first Christmas? Might explain the staring, LOL. It should be captioned "Waiting for Santa" LOL

Lol I know his comb is ridiculous. His parents have produced 5 other roos that didn't have combs anywhere near that size so I'm thinking it may have something to do with the vitamins he was on until 6 months old. He was getting vitamin E, B complex and selenium as well as polyvisol so maybe I inadvertantly found a way to beef up combs...Not that that would be desirable in our environment!
Happy is 16 months old now so was around last Christmas but didn't pay any attention to the tree. Maybe because he "helped" this year lol

He's probably gotten to the stage that anything as spectacular as a Christmas tree is competition and he's plotting its downfall!!!

Could be right!
He sat underneath it today pecking at a jingle bell until I thought he'd drive me nuts. He's watching chicken vids on YouTube now to get his mind off it lol.

BAHAHAHAHA! I think I love your rooster! You need to reproduce him so he can pass on those "housebreaking" genes. I've had loads in the house over the years, none of them were ever picky about where they ed. I read an article once that claimed chickens could be housebroken, and went on to detail how this person did it. Basically watching them 24/7 and running them to the correct spot every time they started to show signs they were about to go...for months...too much work for me!!!
