Hello! We are looking to start up our coop again (we lost a flock to coyotes a couple of years ago. We would like about 20 assorted day olds. I'm a big fan of barred, buff, silkies and others. Obviously we prefer sexed and female but we understand that is not always possible. We will cull any that turn out to be roosters.
Thanks!
Corinna

if you're looking for a big variety of day olds that aren't production sex links, Performance Poultry is a well known ontario supplier.
i know this season they are carrying buff orps, barred rocks, and a large array of common and exotic breeds. common breeds are sold sexed, rare and crested birds are straight run. starting price is about 5$ (i think their most expensive are salmon faverolles which are like 6.50) a chick and a minimum of 5 hens of each breed you want to order, or they will add a 10$ small order fee like they did for me.
they only sell straight run silkies, but thats a breed you can get almost anywhere
here's their site, you have to email them for their catalogue with exact prices, but you can go to 'order' and look at what they have

hope this helps!

I second Performance Poultry. They are located near Carrying Place, about an hours drive from Kingston. We bought from them for the first time last year, it was a relatively small order of only 11 chicks, but we were pretty happy with them. All the chicks were healthy and active.

Good to know about the small order fee! I considered ordering a mix of Old English Game Bantams, but didn't want to order 5 of each color, so had to pass on them. Do you have to email them to arrange the smaller orders? Last time I ordered I remember getting an error when trying to add less than 5 to my cart.
